The Twelve Days of Christmas

You cannot go wrong with classic Jan Brett books for your children. Some of the most beautiful illustrations I've ever seen in children's books and such wonderful stories- though this is the original song lyrics.

Added this to my Christmas book collection. I love the pictures.

Lovely to read and look at in the holidays

This is a beautiful book of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

Beautiful drawings as usual with this author. We love it.

This book was a big hit with a 4 year old who is fascinated with this song since he loves counting, and has a memory that allows him to remember all the lyrics. He enjoyed seeing the vivid and beautiful pictures of things he had never heard of (such as lords a-leaping). I saw reviews saying the lyrics are wrong. It's true that they are in a different sequence than what you usually hear. The lyrics in this book come from the first time the carol appeared in print, around 1780, in a children's book called Mirth Without Mischief. (Google it!) I think it makes sense that the author chose to use the original version.

I love Jan Brett's book, especially the beautiful illustrations. This one didn't disappoint me. So lovely and colorful. At the end of the book the origin of the song is explained en on the next pages is the score. Would make an excellent Christmas present, for the illustrations can be used to discuss the song with kids.

Great little book , love the colours and the pictures inside are so beautiful It's an excellent size really easy to handle and is made very well. There are so many things to look and talk about when reading it with children. A lovely Christmas book and a good stoking filler at a good price.

Jan Brett's illustrations are so beautiful. I love this version of the classic Christmas song. And there are a couple of stories to follow with the illustrations in the centre of each page and illustrations in the frames. I wasn't as crazy about her Night Before Christmas (where her illustrations don't match the words of the story which I and my children found off-putting), but this is a gem.

This is the kind of book that a child will treasure. The artwork is fantastic and will give anyone warm memories of Christmas.

I love this book! it is such a great way to sing the song and the illustrations are so elaborate!
