First, I don't often write a product review unless I am very happy with it. Plus I hate being negative, but this time I feel like a review from my experience might save someone money and the disappointment that eventually comes from learning you've been had. I have cooked with natural olive wood utensils for over 30 years; although the pieces I own are old, they have been well-cared for and are in excellent condition. Most of them are various spoons plus I had a slotted spatula which my dog chewed up in July, prompting me to purchase another. Since this set has several useful pieces I don't have, I bought it though the price did seem too good to be true. I have now used all the pieces at least once, and the spatulas almost every day. They are beautiful. The grain is lovely--almost too pretty to be real. The ones I received do have a varnish-like finish on them (they have a "plastic" feel to them although I am not saying they are plastic). They just don't have the feel of my other oil-rubbed olive wood. After using the spatulas and risotta spoon for less than 2 months, they are blistered and peeling where they have been in contact with the heat of the pans I use. The hole for hanging on one of them is not drilled all the way through, but that is a minor flaw since I don't hang them. However, one of the pegs in the pasta ladle has fallen out, and another is loose. At this rate of deterioration, the set will be useless within a year. This set is fine for looking pretty in a utensil crock, but the one I received will not stand up under the heat of everyday use. My advice is this: If you want olive wood buy the individual pieces you need for cooking; be sure they are made in one of the Mediterranean countries where the olive wood is grown. Each piece will likely cost as much or more than this set, but if you take care of all of them (and your puppy doesn't get to one and thinks it is a chew toy) they will last a lifetime.

The olive wood the set is made from is beautifully varied in color (see pic). They are a good weight and feel as well as strong. (My previous set of another wood broke scraping eggs off a pan but had them several years). They work just fine and I like they are not plastic around heat. I used olive oil to rub into the wood for protection.

All utensils seemed to be less substantial than I expected, although certainly adequate to work with. Was disappointed to realize none can function as a spoon for tasting. Am not sure about the distinctive olive wood coloring either. Seems to be wearing off?? Am not sure. Would not buy again.

As a precaution I lightly oiled each piece and they are as non- stick as the pans I bought them to use with. Hand wash and hang to dry. Love them. Harvey Brown.

I bought these as a gift for my daughter in law for her birthday. She loves them! She loves olive wood cooking utensil, and this was the perfect set for her.

The product arrived in a very timely manner in perfect condition. Beautifully crafted and weighted well to be practical. Highly recommend.

These utensils look amazing and the finish on them is very smooth. I'm definitely excited to start using these in my kitchen. They have a decent weight to them as well.
