Fingerpicking Beatles - Revised & Expanded Edition: 30 Songs Arranged for Solo Guitar in Standard Notation & Tablature

Then play on ...
Please ignore the reviews here by the 'Musos'. They're so Claptonesque that these arrangements offend them ... Too simple! Too dull! Full of mistakes! And so on. I'm a sometimes busker and am often approached and 'corrected' by these superstars who can't afford to wait for stardom so they've started without it and gone straight into pub gigging, where, alas, nobody actually listens to them after the first drink anyway. If you're the kind of person who would be happy, say, just to be Jeremy Spencer and leave Peter Green to find Danny Kirwan, this book will give you a very enjoyable entry into playing some Beatle tunes.Despite what some of the other reviewers say, you'd need to be sort of intermediate level at fingerpicking for lots of it. But if you fancy yourself as a, ahem, Guitarist ... forget it. This volume is for guitar players, and there is a difference, otherwise there'd be no Elmore James and the world would therefore be an even more tragic place. And so, when harangued by the technique supremo police, remember what Bob Dylan said to Mike Bloomfield when Mike arrived to play on the Highway 61 Revisited sessions: Listen, man, I don't want any of that B B King sh*t ...

Great book for beginners looking to improve
As a relatively beginner, I found this book excellent. Because it is music that I am familiar with, with practice and some determination I was able to learn all of the tunes that I chose.Highly recommended to anyone wishing to take up the fingerpicking style.

Aimed at Intermediate and 1 year Players
Hal Leonard obviously found they had a rich vein of players who liked the easy fingerstyle arrangements they produced in this series and went for it with about 20 titles. This Beatles version is very good value for 30 songs. Pretty easy to play. I use them as a teacher for my players who've done about a year and want to build a bit of a repetoire of bombproof solos. (All very well going for the sophisticated arrangements - but do you want to play those and risk errors in front of an audience?)If you want the next level up after knocking this lot off, then try the Schoenberg book. If this book is about Grade 2 to 4, then the Eric Schoenberg is about Grade 5 to 8. Fingerpicking Beatles Another option at slightly harder than this book would be Fred Sokolow's Beatles book. Not bad, not great
Good as a rough guideline for learning fingerstyle versions of Beatles tunes but the arrangements are often a little too simplistic and occasionally incorrect. If you can adapt and augment them then its a decent book to have. If you don't read music notation, you'll need to be familiar with the songs in order to ascertain which notes are integral to the melody as this doesn't come with audio samples like many other HL publications.Good but not great

The best book of Beatles transcriptions you will find.
Probably the best sounding transcriptions of The Beatles music you will find. I have all the other books of Beatles transcriptions and this is the best sounding, and, not too tricky!

Great low priced Beatles guitar book for the intermediate player
This is a gem of a book -if you like the Beatles and you like finger picking style - with some of their best tunes.I've read a few negative comment about this book:ignore them if you are intermediate level, and you have some fingerpicking experience and/ or you want to hone your skills in fingerpicking. Learn the basic arrangements first then work up gradually to the more advanced levels arrangements - this gives you a good grounding.Buy it, you won't be disappointed if you fall into any of the above catergories.

Plenty to do; need to be good!
This is a good book but you will need to be a good 'picker' to get the best from it. There are also some odd mistakes with the chords/chord positions and some of the arrangements, however it may be that this is how they were written but not as played by the 'lads'!!Not for early learners!
