Once the visor is attached to the helmet, it cannot be removed and reattached. I took the advice of another reviewer and added gorilla glue around attachment points for added strength. I found the optimal position for the visor is closest to the face with enough room to reach in with your hand to scratch your nose. Great protection from sun and wind.

2 stars for execution and 5 stars for the visor, for an average of 3+ ( UPDATED to 4 stars)
I ride recumbent, and have for the last 10 years, and my nose was becoming permanently red. If you ride face down all that's really needed is a wide brim on your helmet - but that won't work when lying back at a 45 degree angle. Which is why I wanted something like this, and there's nothing else out there that I've found. 5 stars for the concept - and the shield does work. It keeps the sun and UV off my face. It gets extra points for keeping bugs out of my mouth, flying gravel from hitting my face, and facefulls of sand out of my eyes. A surprising amount of air gets through so it's not been very hot to have on, which was a concern (though I've not ridden in 95F+ degree weather yet). The visor does catch a lot of wind and wiggles around, but that is to be expected, and it seems to be sturdy and flexible enough to handle it.So, why the two stars? what's not to like? Well - there's some serious problems with the attachment scheme. You need to be pretty accurate with your placement, but that's to be expected and I could handle that. The real problem lies with two things:1) The visor slides up and down, by design. OK, cool. Except you can't lock it in place. It also slides up and down (precipitously) with about 25-30 mph of wind. And since that includes your 15-20 mph forward motion, all it takes is a moderate gust, a passing truck and BAM - the visor smacks you in the nose. It's startling when it happens and very annoying to be adjusting the visor every few minutes ; and2) the glue they use for mounting it to your helmet isn't so good. The pad that sticks mounting brackets to your helmet comes un-done when the temp hits about 75F. And, no it's not that I didn't clean my helmet sufficiently, because the plastic attachment doodahs for the visor that come pre-stuck onto the other side of said pads also have come undone. And let me be clear - the pad came off the helmet while it was sitting in my shed, not even as a result of riding. I assume it was temperature that loosened the pads, since thay stayed on for several months, and only recently has it gotten above 70F. The glue came unstuck from between the pad and the plastic connector doodah a little while later, while riding in a bit of wind. It's very unsettling when one side of the visor just takes off and is flapping at your head as you ride along in traffic. Not to mention unsafe. So that should be a negative several stars. It gets 2 stars from me, however, because you can buy your own super-glue. You can glue the visor into place, effectively jamming the up/down slide- be sure to pick the angle that is as close to your face as it can be while still getting your hand up there to scratch your nose, because at a more extreme angle away from you your vision will be impacted by reflections on the visor. It's unfortunate, as it is nice to be able to move the visor around, and because the problem really could (should) (needs to be) be solved by having a locking mechanism in the attachment pivots. And you can glue the pads to your helmet and the plastic doodahs to the pad with the superglue too. So far the superglue (I used Gorilla superglue) has held, and the visor has stayed on and in place through some pretty strong wind gusts (about 35+mph by the way the trees were moving) from all directions. So, I'd say in the absence of anything better, get it and glue it down. It's a pity to have to modify it, but that's way better than skin cancer. And - please Bouclier: I'm a retired engineer, so I know it can be done. Put a lock on the effing thing, and use glue that can handle wind and temperatures.UPDATE *****After using for more than 6 months now, I've added a star. The origninal problems are still there, but my glue job is holding well, and makes the whole thing more functional. And, it works very well in the heat. Even riding in 95+ degree F heat, the airflow is good, and no problems. The extra star is on reflection that it does it's primary job really well - keeps the sun/UV off my face - and there's nothing else out there that will do that. I admit I was a bit peeved/flummoxed when I wrote my original review since I really didn't like the visor coming halfway off and flapping on my head as I was riding. Most unsafe and unnerving it was. Also, on reflection, take the visor off your helmet when you are not riding. It's a very minor pain to do so, but I think well worth it, as it takes pressure off the helmet mounts. So, just do yourself a favor when you buy this. Glue it on/down up front. Then enjoy.

Does the job when it wants to.
This product is Only worth $15, I've had this product since May 15,2020 and today is June23,2020. I go on long rides between 20-40 miles for that day, rain or shine and Windy. I do go at a faster pace between 15mph-20mph. I still use it because I don't want my a ugly tan line. If it stops working I will ghetto rig it.Pro:-This product did good for rain- keep the a mean tan line away- I can breathe fine under it because visor is adjustable-keeps bugs out of my faceCon:-on Very Windy days if I turn my head a certain direction the visor will push down then I have to move it back up-going down a hill I was going 30mph the visor went Back down and I had to move it back up and shit did I jump when that happen. Bad time for that because I need to stay focus due to high speeds.-sticker piece came off so I had to stick it back together, sticker that holds the whole visor to the helmet.

Needs a clear version, and second set of helmet mounts
It does a decent job of keeping wind and rain out of my eyes. However, it could be significantly improved. There needs to be a clear version available for night use. This is a major issue for me as a commuter. It should come with two sets of helmet attachment pieces so that if you don’t mount it perfectly the first time you can try again, especially since it fits a bit differently when it’s actually installed than when you are test placing it.The way it is shaped, it bows outward more towards the bottom than the top when installed. This leads to more air getting in than ideal.

The best available full face shield
I have melanoma issues, so I have to either find a way to block the sun from my face or quit riding bicycles during the day. The Bouclier visor is the best solution I've found. Nothing else I've found comes close to it for coverage and functionality. However, there is a problem in that strong winds will blow the visor out of it's "clicked in" position. Usually this means it gets pushed against your nose. It can be a little startling when that happens, and it's annoying to be re-adjusting it every few minutes. A more refined product would allow you to lock the visor into position more strongly. My solution was to superglue the visor into my preferred sun-blocking "down" position. A few drops of superglue strategically placed into the clicking mechanism did the trick. This isn't ideal either, but for me it's much better than repeatedly re-adjusting the visor. This is not like a motorcycle helmst visor that you need to constantly raise and lower. I find that for the most part I have no need to raise it off my face, so the perma-down position is fine. That criticism aside, this visor has saved my ability to cycle. I bought 2 of them just to have a backup.

It’s One of a Kind
The Bouclier Visor is not only the best of all bicycle helmet visors, it is in a class by itself. It is a visor and a face shield. It rotates up and down with click stops in between. It is easy to install and is easy to remove and reinstall. It filters out UV radiation and cuts the sun’s glare. There is not another product available that compares with the Bouclier Visor.
