Perfect for hurricane preparedness kit
My family and I recently survived through hurricane Milton and Helene. We needed good quality flashlights, that would come fast and come with batteries. This did not disappoint. Once the power went off it went off for almost 2 weeks. I am so glad I bought these. I have a little girl and she started screaming when the lights went off. She has never experienced a power outage and panicked when it went pitch black. Before the lights went out I had these loaded on mine and my husbands bedside tables. They are bright without being too bright. I'd use them more for inside. With gators, snakes and spiders I'd want a stronger flashlight for that. I put them back in my hurricane kit for next year. Florida never disappoints for hurricanes. I'm sure we'll be reacquainted soon. Hope this helps!

Best flashlights ever!
These are smallish flashlights so very easy to handle, but they are much brighter and more reliable than any flashlights I have ever had. They now come in different colors so I have one in every room! Living in a hurricane area it is imperative to have good, reliable emergency flashlights. The first two I purchased when they only had yellow and they have lasted several years, still going strong. With Hurricane Ian on the way I decided to stock up again. They are very handy to keep by bedside, shower, and anywhere else needed to grab in a hurry in case of unexpected power outages. I rarely have to change batteries and they never dim like other flashlights. I cannot say enough positive things about these, especially with the new fun colors!

LOVE this flashlight- great gift
You might want to just save yourself some time and trouble and order several. This is the neatest flashlight ever- bright, long-range beam, easy to grip, comfy to hold, lightweight- with its bright color easy to find in low-light conditions. I take it to walk my dog and cats in the park nearby (it's dark, keeps everyone together). When I take my dog to other parks after dark, I attach it to my keyring, carry my keys that way. It's indispensable. I found myself continually going and getting it from the hook in the kitchen, for use in the garage, the back yard, the front yard, the car, everywhere, so I'm going to order several and save myself extra steps. This little guy has already taken a good pounding, been dropped on concrete, left outside in the rain, with no ill effects whatsoever, still looks new (I can't tell you the scores of flashlights I've owned over the years, even supposedly heavy-duty ones, that gave up the ghost if you so much as looked at them wrong). Plus everyone who sees it or uses it wants one, so I'm stocking up for Christmas (they come with batteries and in different colors, though the price varies by color). GREAT little flashlight! Update 4/15/15: Just replaced the batteries, after using daily all this time (it had dimmed by about 50%)- awesome.

Great for a while, then a couple stopped working, but can be fixed
I bought a few of these Dorcy flashlights about 2 years ago. The brightness level is pretty good. They last a decent amount of time between needing new batteries. They're very lightweight but feel pretty sturdy, rugged. I never tested how waterproof they are or if they really float. But overall I was pleased until recently, when half of them just stopped working completely, even with new batteries. I'm guessing maybe the light bulbs burned out. Which is weird because I only used the flashlights occasionally, and I thought these sorts of bulbs were supposed to have many hundreds of hours of light-up time available, so I was expecting that with only occasional use they'd last for years. As far as I know you can't easily buy bulb replacements for these flashlights. And I can't even be sure that the bulbs are the problem. But if they fail after just a couple of years of occasional use and the failed parts can't be replaced -- overall this flashlight starts to seem like a total waste of plastic. It's a shame, because based on initial usage these seemed like flashlights that'd be good forever as long as you kept feeding them batteries. They've also oddly tripled in price since I originally bought them. At the new pricing, you're better off buying a higher quality light with replaceable and/or longer lasting and/or more reliable bulbs and other components (depending one whatever it is making these fail after a while). UPDATE 1 - 2022: Upon closer inspection, I found that some of the battery contacts on all of Dorcy 55 flashlights I owned had developed a little bit of rust/corrosion. Scraping that away to get back down to bare metal, and stretching out some of the compressed springs, ended up being the fix for every broken unit. UPDATE 2 - 2023: All of the Dorcy Flashlights I own, including the ones I previously fixed via cleaning off a bit of corrosion on the battery contacts over a year ago, are still working great, even after getting played with extensively by my kids and being used during a couple of power outages. These flashlights are turning out to be more rugged than I’d originally thought. Good stuff.

Great purchase!
Works very well for how small it is and how cheap it was. This is FULLY BATTERY OPERATED with 2 AA’s (I was struggling to find flashlights that are just battery and not rechargeable.) Very light weight wise and compact!

Great for camping and cars!
I keep this in my car and it’s great to have in a pinch. The clip on the end is handy to have and I love the various color options.
