incredible story
What a horrific injustice this man experienced. Afghanistan is apparently even more of a hell hole than I thought. The US and the Brits both were inept and self serving.

Great book
I enjoyed this book, such an accurate depiction of Afghanistan and the Western entities involved. I served there after Mr. Berry left, as an American police advisor to the MOI. The corruption and brutality mindset that he speaks of is accurate. My police career was in a border city, and the Afghans were no different from the Mexicans with respect to much of what I saw there. Also, some of the things the author speaks of with respect to misinformation, like black turbans or black mourning flags representing al-Qaeda sympathizers, was still being erroneously relayed to incoming personnel when I got there in 2004. It was like nobody knew or cared what was accurate information and what was not, and that included the USG (State Department), in addition to the contractors. What happened to Mr. Berry was criminal, and yet it typifies the situation there and the misperception that we had some sort of control over any of it. From a former US Marine to a British soldier: hope life serves you well. God Bless.

GREAT BOOK horrible story
This is an extremely well written, scary book. While you can't question the truth of the story, you will wish it false. Fast paced, full of intrigue and obviously guided by a great editor. Just read it.

Lots of action and enjoyable. Language in places is a little rough for the prudish.

Excellent read
It's almost unbelievable that this guy was used, then discarded and abandoned by his country that he loved.. Amazing that he survived.. Thanks Colin for your sacrifice.. The world needs more folks like you!!

Addictive
I bought this having seen reviews by others and was riveted. I read it in two long sessions finishing it a 3:30 one morning. The author writes with a very engaging manner and it is one book that I will be reading again (I don't think that I got everything out of it during the midnight reads!)

Dramatic reading
As an ex-soldier, this reinforced that my instincts for declining a similar career were correct. Rare to find a spokesman you can truly trust. Rarer to find a 'Civil' Servant to trust in the FO too."Plausible Denial" are the words that protect their knighthood or similar honours & readers should never forget this.Brave man to publish his story. Top man & much respect
