The best wooden train accessory available
The media could not be loaded. This little engine is super awesome! We love Brio but it can be quite pricey to build a set. So we’ve been diversifying since hitting the several hundred dollar amount on Brio. It appears that Brio, Hape, and Maple Landmark are compatible. But some ML tracks are a bit thicker in depth and the trains might get stuck where two tracks meet. That aside, this little engine is so inexpensive and high quality that it’s just unbelievable. Really nice addition to our Brio system. The little guy couldn’t be happier to finally have a locomotive. As another mentioned, this thing goes and goes so try not to lose track of it. Oh, what we (as parental units :)) love the most is that this thing is quiet, perfect for playing with while the baby is sleeping (if sleeping in the same room).

This little thing is Awesome!
After we went through 3 Brio engines (which could barely pull their own weight; definitely nothing else) before trying this one. THIS is what an engine is supposed to do! It uses 2 AAA batteries instead of the Brio’s 1. We put this Hape engine with 3 cars attached on the opposite side of the round track from a Brio engine alone. The Hape train caught up with the Brio engine & actually PUSHED it around the track too! And it’s been going for hours.

Best quality and price
This works with rechargeable batteries. My brio trains do not like rechargeable batteries. This Hape engine is faster and quieter. It seems the best built of any non-brio engine I’ve seen.I bought a second one to use with our travel set.

Great Little Train
This is one of my favorite battery operated trains. It is small enough to fit under most bridges that are part of any train track assembly. My grandson gets frustrated that a lot of the trains we bought do not fit under the bridges that we have bought. This little train is perfect for under-bridge advancement. It's easy to operate and doesn't have confusing backward/forward switches. It's forward only and the button is very easy to compress so a toddler can do it.

Great little train
This little thing is mighty! It pulls tons of trains attached with no problem. I compared this train to a Brio battery train and this one was much, much better. It's heavier, sturdy, easy for kids to operate, colorful and strongly magnetized, and above all its cheap. The Brio trains can run 30+ for one battery train and preforms so very much worse. They are slower, hard to figure out, and made of basic plastic. In comparison this train was hands down a better purchase.

Slow but does the job!
There's a very limited selection of battery powered trains out there for wooden tracks, and this was the cheapest option I found. It runs well and can pull a few train cars behind but it does go very slow. My kid doesn't seem to mind that though.

Awesome
Why is it asking me to comment on “warmth” and “thickness”? I have not noticed it get warm. I don’t even know what to say about thickness. I like this engine a lot. It’s fast and relatively powerful. No lights, sounds, or reverse, but it’s also a lot cheaper than the other ones. I absolutely recommend this unless your kid is old enough to be totally put off by the sort of baby look. Or if they absolutely require lights or reverse. IMO it’s the best value battery engine I’ve tried. I’ve got the big Brio red one and the green Brio freight engine one. I like both, but they’re a lot more expensive for not a ton more fun value. My son is almost four and doesn’t use reverse a whole lot, so this one is great for us.

great toy
Works great. on off button prefect for small childern. Batteries last much longer than Hape #1 engine and runs much faster than Hape #1. But it runs foward only, but who wants to go barkward with a train at age 4and 5? great product.

Very disappointed.
The media could not be loaded. Just how good is a train that can’t roll straight…

Best battery train to buy.
The media could not be loaded. We have several if these small battery powered trains. Hape brio and Lidl ones. This is by far the fastest and most powerful one.Very strong and steady also. The base us actulay metal and the rest of the body this heavy thick plastic. This thing is built to last a lifetime.

Nice little train
Nice little train for little fingers. Speed is decent and goes up all hills. I've tried a few carrages, 3 and it pulls up 3 including train ok. Takes 2 x AAA batteries, seem to last a while. Train does not pull along free hand, so only battery operated, on/off button on top of train, easy to press.
