The Trapp Family Recorder - Volume 1: For Soprano or Tenor Recorder

Great!
The recorder method book for soprano or tenor is in very good condition. Arrived on time , had a quick browse & seems to be as promising as other reviews. I am an adult beginner teaching myself the (tenor) recorder. Glad that I bought it, thank you Sarah on YouTube.

Good, but not aimed at the solo student.
A good large sized book, with very clear text and music notation, it takes the beginning student all the way from the first notes to complex Baroque sonatas. There are some lovely pieces for playing solo, but most of the pieces are written for two pupils or for pupil and teacher. For students with a teacher I'm sure it's an excellent book. But for the recorder student without a teacher, a method book clearly intended for solo study would be much more suitable than this, although I'd still recommend it as supplement.

Recorder Practice
I've found this to be a refreshingly traditional instruction book for recorder tuition. From the beginning it presents traditional and classical pieces for the practice of certain notes, and, importantly, it clearly instructs on alternative fingering with practical suggestions of where to use the alternative fingering. After a few Lessons, there is a revision chapter, and at the very end there are quite long pieces for the student to attempt sustained recorder playing, and there is also a section setting out embellishments and trills. The book does not attempt to set out much music theory, but there is enough to learn and put theory into practice. Highly recommended.
