Great espresso in a small easy to use package
So far, I’m really impressed with this little espresso maker. It’s easy to use and clean, seems durable, and does make really good espresso. The unit comes with a base for filling with ground coffee and a base for use with prefilled pods. I have only used the ground coffee pod base. I grind fresh coffee beans (Peet’s) to a fine powder (note the manual says to use course ground but seems to work fine with fine 🤷♂️) and use the included small scoop to dump into the coffee pod and tamp with the bottom of the scoop. I boil water in a kettle and pour some in the collection cup to warm it and pour into the tank to the max line. When you place the cover on the water tank, ensure the hand pump is in the down locked position so when you release it it will prime with water. I pump slowly but it doesn’t seem to matter that much to me. The result is a bold flavored espresso with a (surprisingly) nice thick crema. Some of the common complaints are that the coffee comes out not as hot as some like and yeah, I wish it was a little hotter but preheating helps and you can immediately drink it when it comes out so I’m fine with that. One negative that I noticed is that there is a silicone flap between the base that holds the coffee pod and the water tank that doesn’t come apart (I think) and seems to stay wet/hold water When the rest of it is dry so could be an area for mold risk but haven’t had any issues yet. Is it as good as the best espresso I’ve had? No. But it is excellent and for the price, portability, and ease of use/cleaning, I’m going to use this little thing a lot!

Worked great for two months.
Easy and fast to use. Easy to clean. I like how I can use pods or ground coffee beans. Makes a decent shot of espresso, which is all I wanted to make my dirty Chai. I even purchased a second one to have at work. But after two months, the plunger is not working properly. It leaks water out of the top and no longer pushes the water through properly. So disappointing. :(

One of the best portable machines out there.
This is hands down one of the best portable espresso machines I've owned.(PS: I'm excluding any non-portable electricity powered machines when making my comparisons here)I've tried everything from moka pot to French press to aeropress but never got the taste and results close to this one. (Granted the others weren't espresso machines, but an espresso is what I have always wanted).I had always wondered, my hand pressure should be enough to make a decent espresso.. Why isn't there a machine that can use human power so that it can be portable?Look no further. This thing makes a great shot. I just go to my local fancy grocery store and get beans fresh grounded to "espresso" fineness. I only use this inside my home, so portability was not high on my list but price certainly was. This checked all boxes for me. It is super compact, made of high quality materials and has consistently given me great espresso.

Does NOT pull a true double espresso shot.
Great, affordable, portable espresso maker. My only gripe is the inaccurate advertising stating that it can pull a double espresso. This is not possible. The canister only holds 1 tbsp, which is approx 5 grams of ground coffee...technically shy of what is required for even a single shot (6-8 g). The water reservoir holds approx 2 oz, which is enough for the min required 2 oz double, but a true double would require approx 3 tbsp (15 g) of ground coffee, so not even close. You basically end up with a diluted double. Tastes fine (somewhere between an espresso and an American), but the proper ratio is just not possible. From old city coffee:Use 6-8 grams of espresso per 1-1.5 fluid oz. shot (“single”), and 15 grams of espresso per 2 fluid ounce shot (“double”).It DOES make a nice single espresso with decent cream for a portable device. It's easy to use and clean up is a snap. If you use a standard espresso grind for your coffee, use a very light tamping pressure (almost zero pressure). All in all, a great value. I purchased this product over the many competitors because of its stated ability to pull a double, which it can not do... hence the one star deduct.

eventually stopped working properly.
I used this handheld espresso maker once every day since i go it. Eventually the pump started sticking worse and worse to wear it doesn't even pop up now, and i have to take it apart fiddle with it to get it working somewhat decently. it shouldn't take me 20 minutes to make two shots worth of espresso, but alas that is how long it takes, not even for great espresso, at best right now with these problems i get very little crema it's mostly just brown water, still usable and decent. But what i have to go through to get that is just not wroth it, It's not better than drip coffee. and the cold brew i make works better as espresso than what comes out of this device. At frist i loved it. Pressing the pump was easy, didn't need a lot of force and worked very very well. I always cleaned and dried it properly, and slowly and steadily the pump started sticking. Now when I press down i have to hold it down until i hear i little hiss before releasing. The grounds also must be ground perfectly to the devices liking, too coarse and you'll get the dreaded dishwater looking crap some people talked about, to fine and you can wind up with the water completely bypassing the grounds. you must also tamp the grounds perfectly, just slightly more than light pressure. again tamp it too much and water bypasses the grounds, to light and you get dishwater. what i just said is'nt by issue though. I know how to get the perfect grind with the perfect tamp. my issue is the pump itself. which evetuanlly breaks down and is no longer usable. It is also not metal, it had a metal casing, but the pump arm itself is plastic.Im sure this espresso maker is fine for ocassional use, or even to take on a single trip somewhere, but it is not something that will last a long time. it has very very short life span, and for this price, yes the parts are made nicely and durable, except the pump cap, which is cheap and eventually stops working properly.I also can't return as by the time this issue arose the return window closed. otherwise i would be returning, so i will be going back to try and fix what i can and see if i can get it working properly again. but yes i would prefer to return and get my money back.
