Best money I ever spent on a toy.
I ordered this game for my 7 year old after hearing about it on a Facebook group I'm a member of. It was listed as out of stock, but that more would be in soon, and since I planned it as a Christmas present, I wasn't too worried, since I was ordering it in October. Soon, I got a date of December 23rd, which then became December 2nd, and then November 28th, which soon after became November 17th. Well, when it came in, I decided that I couldn't wait a little over a month to look into it, so it became a "great job on your report card" present instead. My son was super excited to play, and so we sat down to look over the rule book and set about making plans for how to play. Being fairly experienced in a variety of role playing games, I had no trouble picking up the rules quickly. I love how this game gives you such a huge amount of freedom with the rules, rule number one being have fun, and rule number two being , "As long as you follow rule number one, just make up anything you want." We played our first game last night with me being the Maximus Master (and playing a support character, Marla the Elf Sparklemancer),and my son playing Logan, the Ghost-kin Cleric. It started out a little rough, with me unsure how firm his grasp was of what we were doing (for anyone who hasn't played a table top role playing game, it's unlike anything else you probably have played). He was unsure of how to step into his character and out of himself. But with a little coaxing from me (asking questions like "How does Logan feel about this?" And "What will Logan say to the old gnomish gem dealer?"), by the end of the game, my son was bartering with the Vampire Lord (who was vaguely petulant that no one ever bothered to ask his real name - which is David) for the Awesome Bottle of Soda Pop he had been sent to return in exchange for a bucket (because in his words, "Buckets are great for all sorts of things. You can never have too many buckets!"). David the Vampire Lord agreed, and they spent the evening together playing Monopoly and ordered pizza (hold the garlic). In the end, Logan the Ghost-kin returned home a hero, made a new friend, and won the heart of Princess Peach, the ruler who had given him the quest. My son looked at me with bright eyes and said , "This was one of the best nights of my life. Tomorrow, I want to be the Maximus Master!"Positives I should add in - nothing is cooler than watching your kid go from unsure to taking control of situations within about half an hour of playing. The game itself is both silly and serious, the artwork is entertaining without feeling too cheesy. You have a huge amount of options within the game itself, not to mention the fact that you can do what you want how you want. Be prepared to use your imagination liberally - the more you use yours, the more your child will use theirs. The product itself is good quality, and rules are pretty clear. I don't think they could have done a better job of streamlining them. The encounter sheets are great, as are the character sheets and the ability to print out more of both for free from the Adventure Maximus website is wonderful (even if I do need to go buy legal-size printer paper now). I hope that there will be more of all the cards (which include race, class, maps, equipment, spells, and more) made sooner rather than later. The game itself pushes children to engage in creative (yet fairly structured) play, use math, use critical thinking skills, and take charge of dealing with obstacles they face in pursuit of a goal they feel the need to achieve. If there are any cons, I didn't find them last night. One thing I would suggest is that it might be nice to provide a video on the Adventure Maximus website showing how to set up the game for play, and explaining some of the less-clear races and classes (such as goblin and ghost-kin), as well as character creation. This could possibly encourage those parents who are not familiar with table top role playing games to give it a shot, as the rules are not perfectly clear about how to do so if you aren't familiar with such gaming.TL,DR: This game is awesome, I could not recommend it more to anyone who wants to really watch their child's eyes light up with excitement as they realize exactly what they're capable of.

Fun Fun Fun for a first RPG
My 7 yo and I played this game with me being the Maximus Master and a couple of supporting characters and him being a Minotaur who was the team leader. The cards, characters, and equipment were engaging. The first game was a little rough with the mechanics - some of which we just adapted (we generally ignored the walk/run aspect). The sample story examples in the book helped with combat. We borrowed the scenario of the stink from the Fungus Foothills being overwhelming, needing save rolls to keep from passing out. We also added save rolls for the characters to find the ice cave where we fought the Boss. The first enemy he bribed using the box of candy, much to my wife's displeasure (haha). We had some difficulty representing combat with the number of lackeys who attacked us and our overall relative position to them. I kept track on paper but he was lost as we hacked and slashed through 9 shrimp imp lackeys (3 per player). It would have helped to have a grid and miniatures for combat, especially with the concept of near and far range - he couldn't visualize the battlefield.Overall two fun hours+ of storytelling and combat.

They love getting new equipment for their characters, they love fighting bad guys, they love hearing you tell them stories they're engaged In. My 12 year old can run a game for his brothers it's so simple and fun! This is a family friendly role playing game. Buy it!

Play in your child's imagination!
AdMax as some of us like to call it, thanks Ron. Is an amazing family game for all ages, and I do mean all. If your child can read and add, then you are set to be amazed by role playing with your kid, its a blast.AdMax is designed not only to bring table top role playing to your whole family but to introduce your child to story telling, managing, and controlling an rpg adventure for you to enjoy. It a very easy to learn game with a great toy factor with using cards and a tabletop board game feel with the Maximus Master ad-lib story telling sheet and character sheets. It is a very sandbox type game where the only limit is your imagination and trust me unlike your limitless childs imagination, yours does have a limit. For the price, you walk away with all you need, thats a ton of items by the way. So do your child and your whole family a big favor, grab this game and begin to live the adventures in your childs head, you will not regret it, I know I have not. My 7 year old is a great player and an amazing story teller and Maximus Master.
