Its so loud. my son wanted this to make noise on his game streams and it is SO LOUD! He loves it, the neighbors dont.

I wanted this for a surprise sound effect in a live performance of a song about a train. The train whistler tried this whistle at the back of the not-terribly-large room, and it was simply not loud enough to be heard without over-blowing. I ended up stashing it inside the end of the piano, within reach of where I was singing, and at the very end, pulled it out and blew it myself, which ended up being enough of a surprise, and enough sound, but my whistling assistant was disappointed. Very sad! ;-)On the bright side: if you’re giving this to a train-happy child, they won’t be able to drive their parents quite as insane with this genteel, pianissimo whistle, which sounds a very sweet, soft sounding note.

It looks exactly like the photo. It’s nice, clean, and sturdy. Sounds like a train and the kid enjoyed it. I’d personally prefer it to be a little louder.

We put on a community Jamboree every year and this year we added a train which was became the biggest feature of the event for the kids. I purchased a three pack of these whistles for our conductors.They are made of wood and are very sturdy. The sound of each whistle are the same as another and they do sound like the old trains. The reason for 4 stars is that they just aren’t loud enough. Blowing harder doesn’t increase the sound. If your not running a tractor it’s probably fine for your needs but with a tractor, it can hardly be heard.It would be great for kids or even adults who love train sets, just not for things like this.

I'm a folk singer. One of the songs in my repertoire is "Midnight Special". I start my arrangement with a train whistle. For many years I just used the guitar to simulate this sound. Then I used a Native style flute. But when I saw this "horn" on Amazon, I decided for a few bucks I'd try it. I was very impressed with how it created a sound closer to a real train whistle. So now I start that song with the simulated train sound coming from this "horn". I'm sure that most people looking at this item are only looking for something for their kids to play with. It's probably pretty good for that too!

Perfect train whistle for toddler. Sounds great. I saw on other reviews that it wasn't loud and honestly, that's a plus for me, I'm not going deaf so I think it's the perfect volume.

Our two-year old grandson received this whistle for his second birthday. When he learned how to blow it, he spent the rest of the evening and parts of many days pretending to be a steam locomotive.Great gift.

Was so excited when I recieved it....and when I blew into it I was even more excited. Sounds exactly like a train whistle, bought it for my grandson and I am very excited for him to open it at Christmas. It is a bit hugh but that's ok. Smooth wood great quality. Love it

As a teacher, I always wished I could whistle with the use of my fingers but never succeeded. This is the next best thing. :)
