Absolutely beautiful book. Has numerous full color illustrations along with detailed histories of both the pre-raphaelite moment in general and the artists who made it happen. Anyone interested in this era of art should consider this book as a wonderful addition to their library.

I got this book after seeing an exhibit of the Pre-Raphaelites at the Tate Britain this fall. The exhibit catalog was too heavy to bring home, and for some reason didn't include some of my favorite pieces from the show. This book has pictures of almost everything we saw in the show, and has a lot of interesting background on the painters. It brings back lots of good memories to look through it!You won't get a lot of full-page illustrations here: the emphasis is on letting you see a lot of images in a book that doesn't weight twenty pounds. But the quality of the illustrations is very good. Overall, a very enjoyable book.

An excellent overview of the Pre-Raphaelites it gives background information on the movement and the individual artists. Best of all it gives us a wonderful collection of the art. Most pages have several plates on them but the reproduction value is good for that format. If you like this style of art as much as I do, you get the wonderful flowing hair, glorious draped gowns and lovey women in fantastic backgrounds the the movement is known for.

Many, many pictures representing various artists of the ‘brotherhood’. Unfortunately the large number of pictures makes clear the the movement was technically brilliant, but few of the pictures were either ‘lovely’ or very interesting. They artists seem to have been on course for a dead end.

It says 500 images, but really it is more like 250 color plates. However, I still like the book very much. It is a big book, so the pictures are large enough to enjoy the details. I love the lush work of the Pre Raphaelites.

I've had a fascination with the Pre-Raphaelites Brotherhood and their models for a long time and thoroughly enjoy owning this book. There are plenty of gorgeous full color plates of their paintings, along with history to go along with them.

Very thorough history and pictorial of Pre-Raphaelite artists and their art. I have greatly enjoyed the book - learning from the narrative and benefitting from the beauty of its art. Excellent book!

Sono molto felice di questo acquisto. Difficile trovare libri che offrono una panoramica ben fatta sull'argomento. Ho trovato quasi per "miracolo" questa edizione in lingua inglese e l'ho letto e ancora lo sfoglio con piacere. Le riproduzioni fotografiche forse potevano essere migliori ma se voglio posso trovare in rete tutte le riproduzioni che desidero.
