The insulated Kirtipur Sweater, which won a Gold award at ISPO, is a mesh of handcrafts and new fabric technology. The 100% lambs wool sweater is handcrafted by women from a small village near Kathmandu, Nepal where it takes 7 days to handcraft and assemble one sweater. It's lined with Prim aloft Black Insulation Eco, a synthetic insulation that offers warmth, softness, and lightweight comfort and contains 60%-post consumer recycled material.

It's nicer than I imagined
...and after paying nearly $300, I'd had high expectations. The quality seems unmatched. For a hand made product, the seams all seem ideal. The finishing appointments (Buddhist prayer-wheel zipper pull, beautiful ribbon hood-draw) are all so well thought out. The fleece-lined collar feels incredible. I'm sitting in my office wearing it, but not for long. It's entirely to warm for indoor use. This is a jacket intended for cold outdoor wear. It will see many miles on the hiking trails and evenings around a bonfire in the cold Minnesota northwoods.

Great sweater jacket
This jacket feels very high quality. The zipper works really well, it has smooth silky material in the arms and a very soft material on the vest portion. Its quite thick and heavy. I get a lot of compliments on it. It is a heavy jacket. I would say the sizing is about like Patagonia. I ordered a small and it fits perfect. I'm 5'9" 145 lbs. The upper portion is not nearly as bight a color as it is in picture. Its much more brown than white. That's OK. If you check out the video of the dude wearing it on their website, that is the color. It does appear hand made of wool. There are some loose fibers here and there and that may get worse. I'm not sure.

Won't order again
Sherpa kirtipur sweater is warm, but for the price, the hanger hook shouldn't break. And this is our 2nd attempt at purchasing this sweater for my husband. The first had a very noticeable hole in the back. We ordered this on the 22nd. It was FedExed and then handed off to the USPS. This was not "delivered" today. We went to pick it up. I won't be ordering from this vendor again.

Rip Cord on back of coat tore off after 2 weeks
I love my new Kirtipur Sweater so much, but when you spend over $300 for a jacket, you expect the rip cord or coat hanger on the back by the label to work every time. For just the 4th time to hang the sweater on the coat hook it tore on one side! See the photo. This should be covered under warranty!Sherpa Adventure Gear has stepped up and will repair the rip cord under warranty, and paying for shipping!
