Lyve

This is the 2nd version of Skynyrd with Johnny and Co. at their peak live. That said, it's a great live album. The quality and musicianship is up with One More from the Road from the 1st version. The Van Zant brothers (both) have put and kept this band on the Southern Rock charts. Enjoy.

If you are a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan as I am. You must have this dvd for your collection. I have a lot of Skynyrd stuff. But this is my all time favorite dvd. In fact I have two copies. One for the house. And one for our garage/den. And I have bought this dvd for a few of my friends. They too are hooked. I very highly recommend this dvd. You better get two. Just in case you wear one out.

This is the Vicious Cycle album on steroids. It has many of the same songs as the other album, but a whole lot more and LIVE. This cd gives you the thrill of the Skynyrd crowd at it's best. I would recommend getting both the DVD and CD versions. Once you have seen the DVD, it really shows you why Skynyrd remains as popular as they are. The DVD has a lot of extras, but you will want to listen to the concert while on the go.

This two CD purchase was just on top. It has all the great Skynyard songs and a few more. It was a gift for my husband and we both love it. I would recommend this CD to all Lynard Skynyard fans.

I would highly recommend this cd. Especially now that Billy Powell, Ean Evans and Hughie Thomasson are gone.

I had this Cd and video years ago and lost it in a fire. I received my new copy in the mail a few weeks ago and it was still as awesome as I remember. If you love Lynyrd Skynyrd you will love this CD :)

In der zweiten Hälfte der 90er Jahre veröffentlichten Lynyrd Skynyrd kurz hintereinander zwei Doppel-Livealben. Sowohl bei"Southern knights" (1996) als auch bei "Lyve from Steel Town" (1998) handelte es sich um solide Mitschnitte. Die Band riss darauf zwar keine Bäume aus. Doch die Gitarren-Armada aus Jacksonville, Florida, zeigte, dass sie noch längst nicht zum alten Eisen gehört. Um so überraschender fiel "Lyve", das Tondokument zur 'Vicious Cycle"-Tour von 2003 aus. Die Jungs klingen darauf knackig, als ob sie einem Jungbrunnen entsprungen wären. Die drei Gitarristen ballern wieder fette Salven aus ihren Instrumenten und Johnny van Zant röhrt fast wie sein 1977 verunglückter Bruder Ronnie. Eine tolle Produktion rundet das Ganze perfekt ab. Höhepunkte der Konzertaufnahme zu nennen, fällt schwer. Zu kompakt und spielfreudig umgesetzt ist die Playlist. Mein persönlicher Favorit ist das in Erinnerung an den verstorbenen Bassisten Leon Wilkeson gespielte "Simple man", das regelrecht unter die Haut geht. Auch das mit Akustikgitarren präsentierte "Mississippi Kid" sowie das vom 'Vicious Cycle'-Studioalbum stammende "Red white and blue" zeigen die Jungs in Hochform. Überhaupt fallen die vier auf der Livescheibe vertretenen 'Vicious Cycle'-Titel gegenüber den Skynyrd-Klassikern keinesfalls ab, sondern fügen sich nahtlos in die Setlist ein. Die drei Bläser agieren eher unauffällig. Nicht so das Streicher-Ensemble, über das man geteilter Meinung sein kann. Man kann in ihm eine Soundbereicherung sehen oder - dazu tendiere ich - eine Soundverwässerung. Besonders schlimm trifft es dabei "Tuesday's gone", das regelrecht 'vergeigt' wird. Bei "Free bird" werden die Streicher dann von der Gitarren-Armada niedergewalzt. Der Streicher wegen 'streiche' ich den Southern Rockern den fünften Stern.

Diese Live-CD ist einfach "saugut". Die Band hat Spaß am Konzert und das spürt man auf dieser Aufnahme. Spielfreude pur. Hier gefällt mir dann auch "Gimme back my bullets". Das Lied finde ich ansonsten nicht so toll - und schon gar nicht die Version mit Kid Rock von Vicious cycle Album. Ich persönlich halte Johnny van Zant für den besseren Sänger und nicht Ronnie van Zant, auch viele alte Lynyrd Skynyrd Fans das anders sehen. Diese Doppel-CD jedenfalls ist sehr, sehr gut und ich hätte am liebsten sechs Sterne vergeben.
