Designed well for its purpose
I ordered a medium of this item since I’m a size 8 and it fits comfortably, with a bit of room at the tip of my toes. The Velcro straps can be used for the left or right foot and the long narrow one can be cut to whatever length you need. The Velcro is strong and holds your foot in place, and the toe box is wide and sturdy so it protects your foot even if you stub it against something. I highly recommend this product.

Excellent, and love cover over toes!
I broke a bone in my big toe and smashed the heck out of the toenail; the ortho doctor said to immobilize it with either a boot or hard-soled shoe made for this purpose. This was excellent and far better than the $20 version with an open toe that they sold me in their office. That one didn't allow for natural walking movement, such that it was necessary to pick up the foot unnaturally to walk; this one allows for a natural gait, because the heel part is nice and firm but padded. I love the covered toe, too. I started wearing this one 4-5 days after the injury and it didn't rub my sore toe (has a good space for it) and kept my foot warmer/more protected in the cold weather. Would be fine in warm weather also. The only small issue I had was figuring out how to wrap the strap that holds it together at the top of your foot near where your leg begins, but I played around and found a good way to make it work. Excellent product and great price !!

Not much "rocker" but great value!
I'm a women's size 6 and bought the x-small. It fits, but barely. So if you're a 6.5, I'd go up to a small. The shoe doesn't have as much "rocker" as I expected but is nice and stiff and should work for my needs after getting out of my boot. (Healing/recovering from a mid-shaft 5th metatarsal fracture.)

My daughter has 'turf toe", a condition that occurs when the toe is bent under the foot as the result of an accident. It has taken a long time for it to heal and having to wear a protective boot has been tiring. We switched to this lighter weight boot when her toe seemed to have gotten a little better. The covering at the toe part of the shoe has been very helpful and protective. She is better able to get around and it does not throw her whole body out of wack when she is walking. Being the mother of two very active little girls means she is on her feet a lot. This boot has been a Godsend. It is a nice weight, has a little flexibility in the sole but not too much. This means her foot is protected and her toe is immovable in the boot, which promotes the healing process. The boot is well made and easily cleaned. There is plenty of padding and it is comfortable enough for her to wear all day.

Great surgical shoe but hard for me to get tight
I have a chronic wound on my foot so have worn the Darco brand before. They work well but for me they have to be tight or my foot rotates. It is hard for me to tighten both sides at once.I remember from past shoes the fabric will wear rather quickly. I would definitely recommend the toe insert to help with that. I saw them on Amazon but did not pay attention since I already had one. The toe insert will define the front of the shoe and give it some rigidity. The insert will also provide some support and safety for you toes.As for comfort this shoe will get you where you want to go. I don't know about driving with it. You wouldn't want to hike to far with it.

Good quality post-op boot but runs small
I broke my big toe and was provided an open-toe post-op shoe and encouraged to purchase a CAM walking boot. The open-toe shoe and boot are fine for moving about the house but not so great for sleeping or wearing to work, where I'd prefer something more lightweight than the walking boot that also protects my toe. The Darco APB boot seemed to be what I was looking for. I wear a women's size 9 wide and after reading the reviews, ordered the medium rather than the recommended small. The medium is almost too small for me. My broken toe just touches the end of the shoe. It doesn't hurt my foot but it definitely makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm hoping that after some time, I'll get used to the sensation of my broken toe having something touching it. The description claims that the boot is oversized to accommodate casts and dressings--I have neither, yet the fit is still on the snug side. On a positive note, the construction is much nicer than the standard hospital-issued post-op shoe and provides plenty of fit customization everywhere but the toe box. The tread is similar to that of a walking boot, sans the rocker sole. The manufacturer needs to reevaluate its sizing because if someone that actually wears the suggested shoe size range for medium bought this shoe, there's no way they'd be able to wear it.
