Size:5/32" Drill America DMOD series solid carbide drill is designed for drilling abrasive materials when drilling accuracy must be maintained and/or when used in high temperature drilling applications. Solid carbide drill is used on materials such as cast iron, the non-ferrous alloys, high silicon aluminum, copper, plastics, bronze, hard rubber, plexiglass, and other similar materials.

Broke on first use
This solid carbide drill bit broke on the first use drilling stainless steel.Set up:Speed/feed of 1018RPM/3IPM for 3/16" 304 stainless and flood cooling. This is the first time using this brand Drill America DMOD and the break is indicative of an inclusion in the manufacturing process.I'll go back to McMaster Carr

Cuts hardened steel like butter.
I purchased this bit to enlarge the holes on a hardened steel knife I was replacing the handle on. I tried other bits from the local big box stores that just made these bits fit the current holes on the knife. What a waste. This bit had my holes to the correct size in minutes. Very impressed.

Hard Drilling
I made the mistake of breaking a 3/8 Grade eight Caterpillar bolt off in a Caterpillar transmission. I tired drilling the bolt with a Cobalt drill bit, didn't even make a mark in the broken off bolt. I looked on Amazon and ended up purchasing one Carbide 5/32 bit and one 1/4 inch bit just incase I had any breakage like some of the reviews I had read. I was working on my back in the dirt without much clearance, it took me at least an hour to drill a 5/32 hole completely threw the length of the center of the broken bolt so I could drive an easy out into it to remove the broken bolt.

Not good
I bought one of these bits to drill the heads off some decking screws and the bit chipped out on the second screw leaving a dulled and useless tip. I though carbide bits could drill most everything but it doesn't work on screw heads. Money wasted.

Drilled through hardened M390
This carbide bit is great for when you either forget to drill the holes in your tang before you hardened it, or when you drill the hole the wrong size and don't discover your mistake until after you've hardened it. In my case, I drilled holes that were too small in some M390 blades. M390 is one of the most wear-resistant steels out there once it's been heat treated. It holds and excellent edge, it's nearly impossible to hand sand, and you can't drill through it with a cobalt bit. I tried, and it barely left a mark. So I was impressed when this drill bit went through three different hardened M390 tangs. It screamed and complained, but it made it.

Very impressed - finished the job
This 1/8" carbide bit cut through four hardened exhaust studs like nothing. It didn't appear to have dulled at the end of my drilling. I am upset because I accidentally broke it on the last bolt. However it still got my job completed which is all I wanted and expected out of it. Reviews here said they are fragile. Be sure to take extra care to drill perfectly straight and not stress the bit much.

Cuts Through Chrome Moly Vanadium Steel Like a Hot Knife Through Butter
This carbide bit is very hard and very sharp, and with barely any pressure was able to drill out chrome molybdenum vanadium steel alloy. For my particular application, I needed gradually turn the bit from a 45 degree to 90 degree drill angle to get to the buried end of a blind pin. The bit held up like a champ and didn’t break despite the lateral pressure. This probably had much to do with it’s incredibly smooth, efficient cutting power. This is an extremely high quality bit — I highly recommend it. Other people using cobalt steel bits were experiencing a great deal of frustration. This carbide bit by Drill America accomplished in seconds, what the others took 2+ hours to achieve.

Quite possibly the best drill bit I've ever had
I've been using this drill daily for almost 6 months on titanium and it still hasn't broke or gotten dull. I ordered an extra one but I haven't had to use the backup yet. I was going through 2 or 3 drills per week until I came across this one.

Cuts nice, but definitely brittle
Nice bit, cuts well but really truly brittle.I figured everyone else breaking these is doing it wrong so I figured it would give it a shot for 1/4” stainless. You truly need a perfect, vibration free vise and are drilling perfectly in line.It was going great till one hole was slightly imperceptibly out of line. Violently shattered the bit. Going to switch to something more flexible for now

do not buy
product broke/chiped after 2 holes, cobalt drill bit in same applications lasted 30 holes before became dull
