Solid Wood Modern Floating Wall Shelf 36" (Black)

The shelf is okay and the design is advertised. I guess the finish could be described as "Distressed White", but to me it looked more like it had been under a pile of junk in the garage for six or eight years. However, that being said, it was a ten minute project to sand the shelf and repaint it to better fit my needs. The price was right and with just a little work, the shelf will go well with my decor. The product was shipped and arrived promptly. It was very well packaged. There were no instructions included, however a level, tape measure and drill are all that is required for mounting. Since no hardware is included, you will need a couple of screws and drywall anchors. Be sure to check your screws against the mount fittings on the rear of the shelf.

I would have given this 5 stars if not for the hardware.... Or should l say lack of. The shelf looks great and l would have loved it, but trying to mount it was so frustrating l almost returned it. It has the worlds smallest brackets on the back, but no screws or anything included that fit the brackets. I had the hardest time just finding screws with a head small enough to fit in the tiny holes on the back. This is a shelf, so therefore you would assume it is meant to place items on top of it once mounted to the wall. Well good luck with that. I finally screwed long narrow screws into the studs and relocated the tiny brackets on the back of the shelf. It looks amazing, so l gave it two stars but my frustration was zero stars. I should not have had to go through all of this, when it the description clearly states hardware is included.

I really love this shelve after I received it. It's very heavy but it feels solid. It looks darker in the picture. The grey is more of a nuetral gray. But I ended up painting it. The install process can be tricky. I recommend u take it to the hardware store and get the correct anchor screws cause the holes on the back are on the smaller side. I ended up purchasing a $15 plate the screws on the back and then easily installs on the wall. This process does make it lean down or forward so I just took some fuzzy furniture sliders about 1 inch wide and stuck them on the back to make it flush w the wall. Now it feels very solid and strong on the wall.

I love these ! I put two of them in the kitchen next to my stove for the counter clutter. Salt, pepper, spices, coffee cups.... The hooks in back don't work very well, I had to drill them a bit to fit the screw head for hanging. That's when I discovered these are not wood....the back is particle board....Not Solid Wood as Stated....don't lie.

Love how solid this shelf is. It is only getting four stars because mounting was fairly difficult, even for my handy husband. It has a slit in the back that appears should be compatible with a different mounting system, however nothing arrived with the shelf so we just used two screws and some drywall anchors.

It says, "Solid Wood" in both the title and description of the item. However, when this item arrived, I noticed a strong chemical smell and a sticker on the bottom of the shelf noting that the item complies with California's standards for formaldehyde. Wait, what? Then I noticed some damage, a chip in the material on the top of the shelf. The material that was revealed is clearly particle board or MDF; in other words, junk. Since I have very sensitive lungs and am a cancer survivor doing my best to not expose myself to carcinogens, I do not buy any furniture that contains formaldehyde. I am returning this item and hope that Amazon forces the seller to describe this item accurately. Instead of "Solid Wood Floating Wall Shelf", I suggest "Solid Particle Board Piece of Garbage That Might Give You Cancer."

Looks great but it was extremely difficult to install. The screws were larger than the screw slots so I had to carve the wood to make them fit.

Put these shelves up in my nursery and they look great! Very sturdy and durable wood shelves. The only disappointment I had was they do not come with their own hardware.
