Great, but not a beginner's guide
This book does hold many useful bits of information and for someone who has already made a few flies and knows the equipment I would highly recommend it.However, for someone new to fly tying, I would recommend it as a reference book, but not as a Getting Started style book. The images are good and you end up with a great understanding of fly structure too. But as a first steps, it falls short.

Nos as good as the beginners book
Personal opinion only but the cover design is poor and so is the design of the book. Not easy to use or to keep open at the page you wish to use

Great Book!
Arrived before the due date and the condition was way better than I had expected considering the age of the book. Its still great to be able to look through a book even when I am well versed with the new electronic devices there is still a place for hard back books in the world. It is full of useful information and the photographs are very clear. Peter Gathercole explains everything you need to know about fly tying very clearly.

The Handbook of Fly Tying.
The Handbook of Fly Tying. This book gives the fly dresser a great insight into the finer details and methods of tying flies, specifically how each material used can be applied and deployed.
