Jane's Encyclopedia of Aviation: Revised Edition Review: It mentions almost any plane you can think of! - Really like this book because it references all the planes I knew of and many more I hadn't! It has pictures and drawings of planes I never knew existed and they put more Infosys on the rarities which was really cool until Terry got to some of the planes I had heard of and wanted details and images about such as the Antonov An-225 Mriya, I knew hardly anything about it other than its the largest transport aircraft ever built and the book just a gave a one paragraph synopsis and I found that disappointing (That's just me nitpicking about something I was wanting more information about)! I understand that if they gave full dossiers with tons of images to boot that it would have been looking more like the Encyclopedia Britannica than the single book that it is! It has been a great read and very informative and would recommend to anybody looking for an all-in-one aviation guide! Review: The Quintisentual Guide to Aircraft - The quintessential guide to aircraft. Used by most defense contractors as a daily reference as well as most countries. The information here can be uSed to disarm most anything you need to know about an aircraft. Bought this as a gift and once they opened this their other gifts were neglected. :)

This was an older version of the Janes Encyclopedia for aviation than I expected. I would pay a higher price for a more recent "up to date" copy.

Made my Granddaughter very happy.
My Granddaughter Olivia (age 3) has had a passion for air planes. I bought this book for her to look through at all of the wonderful pictures. Although the book is almost o heavy for her to lift she truly loves the pictures and has sat for upwards to two hours looking at all the planes. Jane's has always had a tremendous reputation for the quality of their books.

Treasured Gift
Bought this for my nephew to replace a copy he lost many years ago. He tells me he loves it and brags to all of his aeronautic friends about the book

An excellent book that thoroughly details most aircraft up to the date of publication - 1993. Obviously, the latest aircraft are missing - such as the F22 Raptor and the F35 JSF - so if you require information on these you will have to purchase another more current publication (which won't be a Janes as this is the latest version of the encyclopaedia) or consult the Internet. On the downside, some of the photographs in the book are not that good: They are mainly black and white and some are so poor - either as a result of the angle from which the aircraft has been photographed or general picture quality - that you could not use them for adequate aircraft identification, unless you are already an expert. It would have been nice to have had the accompaniment of identification drawings that some aviation books offer. I hope Janes go on to produce a up-to-date version of this book - with better pictures - as it really is a valuable reference tool.
