Awesome Brush. It's so soft, and holds so much Water.
This brush is awesome. It's my first silvertip, after using a high quality pure badger brush for about 10 years. This brush built up probably the richest lather I've ever been able to create today, with ease. The softness and the water retention are amazing. This brush "blooms" quite nicely, compared to my old pure badger, and I actually think the price was about the same. It's also beautiful. The faux horn looks quite convincing. It's like a work of art. I shampooed it and lathered it up a couple of times before actually shaving, to get the loose hairs out. It may have lost 10-15 hairs, but by the time I was ready for my shave, I lost no hairs Update: I'm about 3 weeks in, and I've shaved daily with this brush. It's still great. It has broken in quite nicely, and there is no issue with shedding or losing hairs. This brush is great looking, and has performance on par with it's looks I'll update this review if it starts to fall apart.

Exceptional Shaving Brush
Before I begin my review, I want to express my sincere thanks to Howie at Super Safety Razors. He kindly sent me an email to explain the maintenance procedure I should employ for my new brush and to tell me he was open to any questions I might have about the product. I truly appreciate his genuine concern for me as his customer. Let me begin by saying I did not receive any form of compensation for this review. This is simply my candid appraisal of the product, and with over 40 years of shaving experience, some men might actually find one or two of my comments worthwhile. At first glance, the brush has a very attractive appearance, as the faux handle and chrome base make a beautiful addition to my bathroom décor. I found the weight of the handle striking. I appreciate having a brush with this kind of weight, as it feels very solid and masculine, fitting comfortably in my hand, and makes for easy shave cream application. I have been using this brush for about three months. In that time, I have only lost one hair. I was pleasantly surprised to find it exuded minimal odor. Actually, the little odor it had entirely disappeared after a preliminary shampooing and a few initial uses. The bristles offer exceptional water retention properties that permit me to quickly create considerable shave cream lather. In fact, if you use a very good shave cream, you will find the brush is able to hold substantial cream between the bristles from one shave pass to another. While I normally perform a three-pass shaving routine, I was curious to see just how much soap the brush could hold amid the passes. Although I do not advocate doing this regularly, I simply rinsed my face after the first pass and found the brush retained enough soap to produce a slick lather for the second pass. It was not an abundant lather, but certainly enough to hydrate the whiskers for the second pass. Naturally, I was quite impressed with the result. Overall, I have to say this shaving brush is an outstanding product. Though there are several high quality brushes on the market costing considerably more money, the Parker brush offers substantial quality and value at this price point. I am very happy with this purchase and pleased to include this product in my daily shaving regimen. Having acquired the right shaving tools, the Parker brush being among them, I actually look forward to shaving every morning. I believe any man who enjoys a superior shave will appreciate owning this product. Therefore, I concur with other people who have reviewed this product and give the Parker Safety Razor 100% Silvertip Badger Bristle Faux Horn Handle Shaving Brush a five star rating.

Highly recommend this brush for the best shave
This brush is great. I think at about ~$60 it is a great value for 100% Silvertip badger hair. It is very soft, builds a great lather (I feel I have to load it for longer than some people state, about 1-2 minutes for me, where some state it takes 15-30 seconds for their silvertip brush- I don't find that this impacts the quality of the brush however) and feels great on my face! I think the faux handle looks very unique, is easy to hold, and does have a quality hefty feel to it. I like the chrome plated holder on top, as it makes it a great place for me to slide it into my chrome Perfecto stand. It does smell like badger- this smell is magnified upon placing into hot water. I've read that some other companies "de-funk" their brushes first, however I am not certain if this impacts the quality of the bristles (which could explain why Parker did not perform this on their brushes). Parker does recommend that you first use hair conditioner on your brush first- this does help to reduce the smell somewhat (although it hasn't gone away for me yet) and makes the bristles softer and more absorbent of water. I think if you get, you will really be glad you did as it is well worth the splurge for a great shave.

Amazing brush for the price
Great silvertip brush at a great price. A few comments mention it sheds hairs but I have only lost a couple of hairs in the beginning and it has been rock solid since. A couple of comments though. When it arrived, it smelled like a wet dog and was dirty. It really was a very unpleasant smell. Like any new brush though you should wash it with shampoo before using. I actually had to wash this 2-3 times before I was willing to put it on my face. After washing though it was clean and smelled fine, not to mention the huge bloom. The product pictures do not do it justice. I have attached a picture showing the amazing bloom this brush has now after washing and using it for a month. BTW, the stand in the picture is also a Parker stand, which it fits in perfectly. The chrome knob on the end of the brush is obviously designed to work with this stand. A final comment on use. In addition to this brush, I also use the Parker synthetic bristle brush. The handle is exactly the same but the way the bristles hold soap is completely different and you need a slightly different technique. Badger holds the soap inside the bristles while synthetic seems to repel the soap. You'll find you use a little more soap with badger than synthetic since so much stays within the brush but it is softer on the face and you don't have soap dripping out like you can with the synthetic. Bottom line, if have a concern with animal rights or vegan, the synthetic is a great option but if you want to treat yourself to the best, go with this brush.

Excellent Brush with Limits **Face Lathering look elsewhere**
First and foremost this brush is truly of the highest quality materials and craftsmanship. If I could rate it at 4.5 I would. Info for new wet shavers (review cont. below) : Every shaver will prefer a different type of brush based on their preferred lathering method and of course other factors. In the wet shaving community Silvertip Badger brushes are touted as the best of the best. As a new wet shaver, I bought into this and purchased this as my first silvertip brush. Things to know about silvertip badger knots and brushes: -Density, Diameter, and Loft are incredibly important as they determine the brushes backbone - these three characteristics of a brush will have a great effect on how the brush lathers (Whether it be Bowl, Hand, or Face lathering). -Silvertip brushes can be lather hogs. This means that although the brush may feel amazing and whip up a voluptuous lather, the knot itself holds on to the lather and doesn't easily give it up (transfer it to your face where it belongs). - Setting a knot deeper into the handle shortens the brushes loft. This increases backbone, and reduces the lather hogging effect some silvertip brushes suffer from. Surely you've seen "chubby" or short lofted silvertip brushes offered by other manufacturers and artisans. These brushes offer the hallowed softness we want from silvertip, while providing the backbone required to lather well with any method. Back to the brush review.... Softness: This brush has the softest natural hairs I have come across yet. Not as soft as my Razorock Plissoft, but still in the 90-95th percentile of softness for ANY fiber type. Knot: 24mm/25mm is a suite spot for many people, me included. We normally see 24mm and then a jump to 26mm, so kudos to Parker for making a 25mm knot. The density is not necessary lacking, however I would not say that this is a dense knot. This is where some of my only complaints come into play. This knot blooms like crazy due to the loft height. It is really floppy when loaded and lathered, painting seems to be the only effective method of transferring the lather to my face. If Parker had set the knot another 10mm deeper, this would be my favorite brush. Handle: Supreme materials, surprising weight, and beautiful faux horn all come together to make this an excellent handle. I really wish Parker had simply set the knot deeper! Lathering Performance: Whips up a perfect lather in no time when using the bowl or hand method. Face lathering isn't great for this brush. It's too soft, lacks the backbone, and actually has quite a large splay diameter. TLDR: Good brush if you like bowl lathering. A bit of a lather hog, painting on the lather works alright though. I wish Parker has set the knot deeper to firm it up. Handle is awesome.

Great shave brush!
I purchased this brush over 8 years ago and use it every time I shave. It has held up extremely well, having lost VERY few bristles. It is a pleasure to use, lathers up well and applies ample soap. It is used only with warm water, never hot, rinsed very thoroughly after each use, shaken vigerously and hung on a stand with bristles pointing down. I will admit we have an house water softener and my soap is good quality glycerin shave soap.

Excellent !
Let me just say I am a first time user to the brush/cream experience. After 2 decades of shaving. I am kicking myself for not joining the club earlier. I stayed away from this assuming the amount of time it would add to the morning routine and frankly it felt like a bit of a production for a daily activity. But after a week this feels more natural and takes about the same or a smidge extra time. After seeing the 5-star review here and the $200+ price tag on an "art of selling" product in the mall, I thought I would go with this. The build is amazing for the price. It is a smart looking brush. Wish I could say the same for the stand but the stand does its job without any fuss. I have been using the brush for 5 weeks now. I am using this in conjunction with Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream Bowl, 5.3-Ounce . This is important because being a newbie I tried using the brush in combination with the cheap shaving gel that I had always used and that was a learning experience. About a day after I ordered the brush, I got an email from Howie whose 6 tips have helped pulled back the world from the brink of a nuclear disaster. Not really, but I have followed those instructions religiously (using, cleaning, storing) and the brush, in turn, has performed just as admirably. On a serious note, I do appreciate the initiative by the company in educating its customers - especially those who may be new to this. The brush feels a little too soft against the face - I typically don't hold it by the handle - I hold it at the base of the bristles to work up a lather on my face instead of the bowl and make it feel firm. I have gotten used to the technique. Although Howie may disapprove. But that's about the only complaint I have with this brush. And, no, I certainly didn't get paid for this review.

Soft buttery opulence!
First impression: it's a weighty-handled brush that feels great in the hand, with a large bloom that will surely spread out more over time. The little stand it comes with I would describe as basic, but it's nice of them to throw it in the package. I do think this brush probably deserves a nicer stand that holds the brush higher up on the handle. One hair came off during the process of washing the brush under hot water (I skipped shampoo), which I find is pretty acceptable for a first-use. I tested the brush with Proraso Shaving Soap. The brush lathered really quickly, maybe 10-15 seconds of brisk circular application in the shaving soap. The bristles held a ton of soap. Brushing the lather against my face cemented my opinion that this was a good purchase. The brush feels amazing and applies large swathes of soap in soft, buttery strokes. It's opulence in a way that I didn't even know could exist in a shaving experience. This is a great shaving brush and I give it my highest recommendation for purchase.
