Orchid Flower Essences
Book and photos by Don Dennis, this delightful book from 2010 is only 128 pages long, but it is LOADED with beautiful color photos of orchids and information related to their healing essences. It is printed on high-quality paper. For my "energy" friends, who are already familiar with flower essences, this is a book about ORCHID flower essences. For those of you who don't know what the heck I'm talking about, this book is about making a liquid from the flowers that helps them to share their own special energies with you. (I know that probably sounds bizarre to some of you, but I believe it and so do many others. There is energy in EVERYTHING and it's really neat to share in it.)Our author brings this book, and his orchid essences, to us from the Isle of Gigha in the Inner Hebrides in Argyll, southwest Scotland, about 3 hours from Glasgow, by way of car and ferry boat. The Living TreeOrchid Essences (LTOE) were founded in 1998. They are made WITHOUT cutting or harming the orchids. The "gentle healing energies of the plants are expressed in their blooms and held in bottles of liquid" and are then available to you.In his lovely book, Don describes everything about the LTOE: how they came to be, how they are made, what they are, how they are used, about Gigha, the people involved, where they are grown (in Gigha), how to choose an essence, how they are related to the healing centers of the body, chakras (subtle energy centers of the body) above the crown (cosmic chakras), AND . . . the descriptions of the healing properties of each essence. As of March 2010, there are 84 essences; 18 of those are combinations. The book actually provides a nicely-sized photo and generally a half to full page description of the healing properties of each essence and the orchid it is from. There is also an abbreviated section toward the back of the book for those who want a quick explanation. If you decide you are interested, you may purchase individual essences, the set of essences, aura sprays, orchid greeting cards, and orchid photo cards. The greeting cards are each about 5" x 7" (don't have my ruler right now"). The orchid photo covers the entire front. They are blank inside, so you can write your own message. The back of the card tells you what orchid is pictured on the front, a little about it, and the address, phone, website of LTOE. Don also has seminars available in Gigha for those interested. In my opinion, this book is beautiful and interesting, and I've had my own experiences with this book and the greeting cards. I was particularly enthused by a greeting card of Paphiopedilum Spicerianum, a special little green slipper orchid native to Bhutan, SW China, NE India, Myanamar, and the eastern Himalayas. I have nicknamed him "Green-man". There is a face in this orchid. My energy friends will understand when I say that Green- man, and this entire book, has had an impact on me. His essence is called "Redemptive Dream" and he works with the dream state, allowing one to release some junk. I plan to order Green-man's essence shortly along with other essences and I will treasure this book. It has given me much already. As for Green-man, I am going to frame his picture and hang it in my bedroom!

What beauty these orchids have to offer.
This book is a companion to the essences of the same name. Having taken one of these essences and experiencing very positive results I wanted to find out a little more about them, so I was very pleased to see that this book had been written. I was impressed with the explanation of how vibrational medicine works, the detail of how the essences come into being and the beautiful pictures which I'm sure give you only a glimpse of the orchids energy. I'm looking forward to the time when I can visit the Isle of Gigha and meet these lovely plants for myself.
