Glue in the binding comes out after a few weeks.
Apparently there are two publishers selling this particular book. I would recommend going for Pearson. This one is by 'Narosa'. It is cheaper so it is a good choice, however the binding is a little weak. I haven't started reading the book, however I did see check the pages and as time passed the bindings became loose. First 50 pages are loose and I had to glue it to the binding. Imagine if I actually start reading the book! I am sure the pages would be all out. Pearson usually makes good quality books, all of us have perhaps used the Griffiths books. Mine still is in perfect condition even though I have read the books entirely. In short. Choose Pearson over Narosa. This book is by Narosa.

Really nice edition
The size of the book is small so it can be held in one hand and the writing is legible. The quality of the paper is not the best but all in all, it is a good buy. The text in itself is legendary and essential for any physics enthusiast.

It covers most of the classical mechanics. If you are beginner with little or no knowledge about mechanics and it's ideas then you should take some other books in elementary mechanics like one by C.R Mondal before starting this one. This book will give you whole of subject material but you will have to take it slow. Excercises are varied from easy to really tough. Few of them can be done without external help some will need references. But overall it's great for physics students or applied mathematicians.

Excellent book on Classical Mechanics
Classical MechanicsBy Herbert GoldsteinFirst Edition, HardcoverSize (Roughly): 23.5 x 15.5 x 2 centimeters.Book sold by "Babylon Bookstore LLC" on Amazon.Announced in "Good" condition with the next description: All pages are intact. Book contains very limited markings. Cover shows signs of shelf wear. The book itself it's in great condition, it included a dust jacket. The pages are all clean and the annotations can be counted easily. The standard recommendation by many physicist as the perfect book on Classical Mechanics. I wouldn't say its perfect but it really is one of the best. All physicist should give it a try.It stars with elementary principles like D'alambert's principles and Lagrangian equations which is one way of deducing the so called Euler-Lagrange equations of motion and some applications of this new formulation of mechanics. After that, it deduces the same equations by the Hamilton's principle applying variational methods and the advantages of this methods. The third chapter discuses two particle central force problem, for example the Kepler problem. After that it goes into rigid body equations of motion including the Euler's equation of motion, then it moves to small oscillations that basically is an approximation applied in all physics.Chapter 7 is where it shines covering special relativity in classical mechanics where you'll find stuff like the Lorentz transformation, covariant four-dimensional formulations force and energy equations in relativistic mechanics and covariant Lagrangian formulation. At the end it goes back to the Hamilton equations of motion and the Legendre transformation, and the Hamiltonian formulation of relativistic mechanics and the principle of least action. And it doesn't end there, there are canonical transformation applied to simplify the Hamilton equations, Poisson brackets, it calculates this brackets for the angular momentum L in classical mechanics that will be very much important in Quantum Mechanics!.Also discuses Hamilton-Jacobi theory discussing what are called action-angle variables and the Kepler problem in this variables.Overall a complete text on classical mechanics but it's missing the ideas of a curved space, how do you define velocities in this new space?, this ideas in classical mechanics are very important if you want to study general relativity, classical mechanics should be an easier place to start and this book does not even mention it.Great book. I can easily recommend this seller

Seniors and grads need this
This is an advanced senior or graduate course text. Meticulous and imaginative. We used this text in the 60s and I wanted a fresher copy.
