You'll notice that the SRAM X01 X-Glide Cassette has a dark, matte finish not typically seen on drivetrain parts, and definitely not seen on the XX1 cassette. SRAM calls it JET Black, and it provides greater corrosion resistance across both the steel and aluminum cogs that make up the monster 10-42-tooth cassette.

High cost. High performance level. Differs from XX1 by only $15 and 15 grams. Worth it? Yes.
Set this up on a new build with a X01 rear derailleur and shifter, XX1 crankset and KMC X11SL chain. First, the finish on this component is outstanding, as would anything with this level of exquisite machine-work, and all that machining comes at a cost. These suckers are expensive, far more than their 10-speed brethren. But are they worth it given the plethora of DIY 1x10 solutions out there? My assessment is that would depend on your budget. My initial impression on the trail is extremely positive, likely the result of the outstanding synergy between the components of the SRAM 1x11 drivetrain system. You gamble on that kind of synergy with a Frankenstein-ed 1x10. Shifts, even uphill under duress, are quick and positive. Given the cost, I'm concerned with tooth wear, and you can bet that I'll be diligently swapping chains and using generous amounts of lube.

SRAM XO1 11 speed cassette gets the job done, and saves money over XX1
As a competitive mountain bike racer and Team USA member, my gear goes through alot. The SRAM cassette is superbly made, and while lightweight, it holds up well. The largest ring can be replaced, and even an after market bigger ring can be applied.

Works well! - Note that the Park tool will not be able to tighten this if you have a 142 thru axle. The park tool (FR-5) bottoms out on the axle and will not tighten all the way.
