Amazing Peace: A Christmas Poem

The poem is great but if you choose the hardback option it is not the same as the paperback shown with illustrations. If you want illustrations choose paperback!

Not your average, rhyming metered poem, but as lyrical as Maya Angelou always is. The artwork is delightful. You can see the glow of Christmas peace on the faces of children and adults as they gather to celebrate the holy night.

I be been reading this poem for years. Maya Angelou is my favorite author and her imagery and sentiment in this poem never ceases to leave me inspired. I have the hard cover but I wanted to have it accessible to me wherever I am.

Every Christmas Eve, I read a children's book at our early worship service. This year, I read Amazing Peace and realized it's not a children's book. Some of the language may have gone over children's head, but I believe Maya Angelou's poem found its way into their hearts with its powerful message of peace. It was an incredible witness to the wonderful way she had with words and the incredible spirit she had.

I was told this was a nice Christian Christmas book. I picked it up for my sister who works at a church. However, this is NOT a Christian book. Everyone celebrates Christmas together and in peace... and wishing peace to all mankind regardless of their religion etc. Many different religions mentioned. The book is very idealistic and all inclusive on the matter of religion. If you are looking for a religious Christmas book that focuses on your own beliefs, buy something else. This book is unfortunately not what was needed for a church's Sunday school class, so I regret my purchase.

I gave this as a holiday gift to a supervisor of my Dad's and I hope he and his family liked it. I thought it to be a very touching poem.

Christmas present

I was immediately curious to read these poems by Angelou and to have the beautiful drawings which I assumed were part of the book. I was disappointed because not only for me but for children who would be cuddled up with me while reading.
