Not such great recipes
I just didn't feel like the recipes in the book were necessarily recipes as ideas for plating food. There were some recipes or ideas I liked I just didn't think it was so great. I was hoping for new foods cooked in novel ways.

Beautiful cookbook
This is a really nice cookbook but I have not yet made any of the recipes. However, I feel my star rating is justified at this time. The pictures are beautiful and there is a wide variety of very appealing recipes. However there are some negatives:1. Some pictures show ingredients that are not called for in the dish ( such as p. 125- a salmon recipe that is pictured served over vegetables). This may bother some people.2. Some dessert recipes call for raw eggs ( in other words the eggs are added raw, never cooked and the final dish contains raw eggs) With all the book's "health tips" you would think that this issue would be addressed- since pregnant women, very young children and the elderly are usually advised against consuming unpasturized raw eggs for safety reasons. ( example- chocolate mousse pie p. 161)3. There is at least one mistake in a recipe-the cinnamon pull apart cake on page 271 calls for 8 cups of water in the glaze ( the other ingredients are 1 1/2 c. confectioners sugar, 1 tablespoon corn syrup and 1 tablespoon oil.) Perhaps 1/8 cup water is more likely to be correct. So use caution if something does not seem right! Mistakes do happen in cookbooks- not just this one.4. A cookie recipe calls for 2 1/2 pounds "nut fat" (p.283). Do they mean coconut oil? These are not peanut butter cookies! ( They are melt in the mouth sandwich cookies that truly look delicious so I would love to make them!) I wish they had discussed what to use as a "nut fat" in more depth.5. Someone posted that they hoped Aishes Chayil included their delicious muffin recipes- I did not notice any muffin recipes in the book. Some people might criticize the cookbook for not always having healthy ingredients and using items such as non dairy creamer and dessert whip, but I view this as a choice to make desserts taste delicious within the constraints of a kosher kitchen.Overall though, I do view the cookbook as beautiful and I am glad I bought it. I found 90% recipes to seem mouth watering- cashew chicken in vol-au-vent, cheese lukshen kugel, coconut poppy seed loaf, honey crunch noodle pudding, cabbage salad with sesame and almond crunch, shlishkes, Apple plum lukshen roll ( very creative twist) and more. Oh- and this is not a low calorie cookbook if that is what you are looking for-it is Jewish comfort food- although by picking and choosing recipes carefully you can enjoy a meal that is not fattening because many of the recipes ( except the desserts and baked goods) are reasonable in calories.
