OTC(1035) Mechanical Grip-O-Matic Puller - 7 Ton, 2 Jaw (Reversible Jaws)
S**!
Got the job done.
This was the puller that finally allowed me to remove a stuck axle from my car. Tried a 12 ton hydraulic puller from HF, and it was too big. Then I went back to get their next smallest (5 ton), which didn't do a darn thing. Finally I ordered this guy, and along with a combination of some penetrating oil, an 8# sledge, and many tears, managed to get the job done. Great tool, can withstand repeated smashings with a heavy sledge, and still works like a charm.

Great for a tight space
A lot of pullers on the market do not list their jaw thickness and such and it is difficult to tell how large they really are until after you've spent an arm and a leg on one only to find out it won't do the job. I was trying to remove a counter gear bearing on my manual transmission which sat 2mm from another gear. Other gear pullers that I tried were just too big or too small and flimsy or had too thick of jaws to get a grasp on the bearing. This one was able to grab hold of it and pull it off. It seems solid and well built too!

Did You Ever Try and Make One Of These?
It popped my steering wheel without to much tension. The trick is finding the right size spacer bushing that sets up under the business end of the threaded rod. I used a 1/4 inch drive shallow wall socket. The surprise comes when the wheel finally releases! I also picked up the MotorCraft SW 5928 Cruise Control Switch and needed this puller to pop off the steering wheel. The dealer wanted 350.00 and I did it for the price of the Puller and the Motor Craft SW 5928 Cruise Control Switch. Saved 230 bucks!

This is a flimsy looking tiny puller.
I got it so I could remove a torsion bar on a truck. It was a scary proposition. I'm not sure what you'd use this for, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Broke when trying to pull pitman.
Used to try and pull pitman arm on 2005 Dodge Ram. The teeth on the arm snapped off, I then swapped the arms around and tried again, snapped again, now it is garbage. Maybe it took more than 2 tons of force. Onto the 5 ton puller...

Broke on First Use
I was trying to remove a hydraulic fan pump pulley and one of the ears broke off within seconds of using the puller. I thought it had simply slipped off the pulley, but to my surprise it had broken. It looks like the metal on the jaws is too brittle. In all fairness, I had this exact same thing happen on another brand of puller I tried as well. In both cases the pullers were correctly sized for the application. I just don't think that the metal quality of many tools in general is any good these days.

Great for pushing out control arm bushings
Using this in conjunctions with washers is a great combination to push out rubber bushings from control arms. This can be used for many other purposes as well for removing gears, races, use your imagination, the sky is the limit.

I'm seriously doubting the 2-ton capacity - tooth broke off of one side of puller
Broke the tip of the puller when trying to separate my center link from the idler arm. I know I had much less than 2 tons of force on this thing before it just snapped at the tip. Plus, the nut on the end is only 14mm, so it's not going to be very heavy duty.

The puller is small.
The puller is much smaller then expected, but made made very nice.
