BIAS Lighting Relieves Eye Strain Bias lighting is lighting that is placed directly behind the screen to raise the ambient light levels in the viewing area without directly shining light toward the viewer nor shining light past the viewer toward the screen (where it could create reflections and other viewing problems). Because the light originates outside of the sightline of the viewer and is not in a direct path to reflect onto the screen, you get all the benefits of increased luminance in the room without the problems of glare or light shining directly from the source into your eyes. Good value and effective
Cheap, and effective. I didn't want to pay a lot to test the principle, and was worried that Mrs T might not like it. In fact, she is very pleased and can now watch TV without burning other lights in the room!

Produces 'Overcurrent' error at any length over 36 inches.
Disappointed...a great length, so I thought, to surround my new Panasonic Viera, however, once plugged in to any of the three USB ports (one of them a USB 3), it produced a constant overcurrent error and began to flash until the tv switched itself off. Cutting the lighting incrementally in an effort to reduce the power requirement and stop the overcurrent error finally resulted in the lighting strip being 36 inches long...useless on a 58 inch screen.
