"Never, Never, Never Give Up" - Winston Churchill
We have different size and shape heads and sleep in many different positions. I have a very small head so I obviously ordered size small. What works for one, does not work for another. I believe this is one product when reviews may not be that helpful, but this is my story.I must sleep on my back and my mouth falls open. I've had manageable dry mouth for many years. Back in July my tongue was hurting more than usual when I woke up in the morning. I went to my dentist and he could not help.A few weeks later I was diagnosed with oral cancer. (No connection to the increased dry mouth) After 6 weeks of oral radiation, I was in agony when I woke up. Dry mouth is a side effect and that on top of my already dry mouth is awful. This chin strap was my 4th try. In the meantime I was taping my mouth shut...not fun. I found the best tape for me was 3MTM KIND REMOVAL SILICONE TAPE available on Amazon.Back to the chin strap...It took various adjustments to get the chin strap right for me. I only use one of the additional straps...below my ears. All the pictures show the strap near the top of the back of the head. I can't give a good explanation, but I put a washcloth on top of my head before securing the strap and I am more comfortable. I am still able to wear my sleep mask and use my headphones. I look so adorable :)What I find very unusual is the fact that when I put on the strap I can still open my mouth and talk. When I get into bed the strap feels a little more tighter and when I fall asleep it somehow keeps my mouth shut and I do not wake up in agony. I once decided I didn't need the strap for a quick nap. Wrong! I use the strap whenever I go to sleep.I used the Churchill quote in my heading because you must not give up! It's a pain and costly, but well worth finding the chin strap that works for you.

Good value
I was having problem with dry mouth when I wake up in the morning and problem with my throat from snoring and breathing through my mouth when I am asleep. I was not sure if a chin strap would work and did not want to invest a lot of money in one. I saw some were selling for way too much for a simple contraption like that and some were just too simple in design to work. I saw this and thought it was what I wanted to spend my money on. I am not disappointed, it worked for me. Initially, it kept falling off in my sleep but I soon learned how to use the 2 little straps (not shown in picture) more effectively to keep it in place. Also, it hurt my ears initially but I soon got used to it. It got rid of my dry mouth problem.

By far the best
I have tried at least half a dozen different chin straps to use with a CPAP machine and this one is by far the best, including over the identical-looking Respironics model. The Avalon Aire uses a thicker material, has a big patch of velcro (both hook and loop, not just hook like the Respironics), and a wide adjustment range. It is very comfortable, highly adjustable, and leaves absolutely no marks after a full night. This is my go-to model from here on out. I just hope Avalon Aire keeps making it at the same quality. Don't bother with the narrow straps, they aren't needed since the main strap is so stable. No downsides, all upside. 5 stars without a second thought.

FANTASTIC! BEST VALUE. WORKS GREAT!
Could have saved the thousand bucks for the expensive specially-molded 'snore guard' from the dentist. It didn't work well for me UNTIL I added usage of this. I may not even require the snore guard anymore...and I don't feel like experimenting. I DO know I MUST where this to get a decent night's sleep. I think it might even take the place of a C-pap machine. I'm not the one to judge....HIGHLY RECOMMEND (and the best value too!) Btw...I don't require the extra straps to hold it on...that was a bit overkill for me. Less pressure on my skull without them..and the chin strap still works fantastic.

works
it easy to get used to. I have the nasal pillows for my cpap machine and I had horrible dry mouth and throat from opening my mouth a little while sleeping. I've used every night for about 8 months and it's time to get a new one. The velcro straps (2) that hold it in place just wear out the material over time Worth the price

Hope it works for you. It didn't for me.
Judging by the reviews, this worked well for many people. But it didn't solve my problem. Pressurized air from my CPAP wants to work its way out of my mouth, and I thought a chin strap would prevent that. But even with my jaw closed, air can push past my lips, leading to reduced pressure in my airway and the dreaded dry-mouth. I need to find a way to keep my mouth closed…or try a full-face mask. This strap was an attempt at a cheaper, simpler solution, and didn't do the trick for me.

Review Avalon Chin Strap
This is a nice chin strap. However, the velcro to secure it when one puts in on, damages to some extent the texture of basic material of the strap. It takes some time to get use to it. I'm not using it regularly. Because the strap is wider than the Philips Respironics, this strap works better.

SMALL SIZE NOW LONGER?
I bought one of these size small on Amazon January 2017. It worked great, made from a softer material and the small size helped keep my mouth closed while using a C-pap resulting in better sleep.Recently I reordered this item to replace my current strap and the replacement I received was 2-3" longer. The longer length makes it impossible to adjust the strap short enough to be effective and my sleep quality has decreased significantly. I've included a photo that shows the difference. I feel selling this strap as a small is deceptive this not for people with small heads.
