Woodturning Christmas Ornaments with Dale L. Nish (Fox Chapel Publishing) Step-by-Step Instructions & Photos for 12 Elegant Wood-Turned Pieces to Decorate Your Tree and Deck the Halls for the Holidays

I bought this book a while back and have referred to in making Christmas gifts and ornaments. I has been very helpful and given me many great ideas.

Anything by Dale Nish is high quality.

This was a nice bood with good illistrations. There was a nice selection of ornaments to look at in the gallery at the end of the book. However, I was a bit dissapointed that the most of the instructions were for miniature bird house ornaments of various designs but, using very similar techniques with minor variations. (10 bird houses and 2 other ornament styles) It woud have been nice to have demonstrated a wider variety of ornament styles like a basic globe ornament, some of the more ornate globe ornaments in the gallery, an inside out ornament, and a snowman would be just a few possibilities.

An OK idea book but not very extensive in designs. As the cover indicates the emphasis is on birdhouse design and not Christmas ornaments in general.

This is a very good picture book on how to turn bird houses. Unfortunately I gave it 4 stars because I like bird houses with the perch underneath the entrance hole. I liked the variations such as the bat house. THe book is a good starting place to develop your own style of bird house.

I have enjoyed reading and looking at the great photos in this book. The tips and instructions are easy to follow and will continue helping me improve my woodworking abilties. The projects in the book have given me several additional ideas to keep me busy for a long time. Having some fun gifts on hand for special occasions will no longer be a problem!

really well made and presented. If you know nothing about turning, get a beginner's book. This one takes you on a good tour of turning birdhouses with great creativity and care.

I made 3 of the ornaments, from the book, not exactly to the dimensions but did it my own way they turned out beautiful

This book is well written with good explanations particularly the piece on jigs. The objects are easy to turn and should give the beginner enough practice with the basics of wood turning. They are not expensive to make and appart from Christmas gifts make an ideal gizzit for those nice people who give that little bit extra when scrounging for off cuts of wood!

Good for wood turners who want to produce some different work.

probebly the most misstiteled book i,ve had it should be WOODTURNING BIRD BOXES ON STRINGS. it might be usefull across the pond but not here. i know the technique is similar but people here like items of christmas to resemble christmas. my own fault though i should of checked the nationality of the authors and the publishers.

Nicely produced, well written, and well illustrated. Some good ideas from which you can extend the range by thinking around the subject.Recommended.

Great book by the late Dale Nish bought for my wood turning hubby ,fab ideas and pictures he has made some of the lovely things in the book all ready .
