Preset temperature not what you might expect
Thermometer seems to be sturdy and nicely built and works well. However, if you are buying with the intention of using the preset temperature setting for meat taste, beware that the preset temperature are higher than expected. For example, medium is set at 160 degrees (which is more like well done) not 145 which one would expect. Also, chicken should be 165 d, not 175 as the present has it.

Most Convenient Cooking Product!
I love to cook, so I have always used the same thermometer, but once I started using the wireless one, I did not realize how inconvenient my old one was. I would constantly be getting up to check on the food or asking my wife and kids to check the thermometer, if they happen to be over there, and after a while it became a pain. Now, I can have the temperature updates with me wherever I am in the house and do not have to be constantly checking on it. This product makes cooking more simple by only having to check the food once your alarm goes off right next to you. I highly recommend this product!

BUY THIS!
I have used this about 5 times so far with my smoker. It is awesome!. Never need to open the door to check temp again. I just bring the wireless monitor with me and it lets me know when the meat is done. It just helped me make the best smoked pork ribs I have ever eaten in my life. I plan on using this in my indoor oven as well. It takes the guessing game out of cooking, and you don't have to lose heat checking the temp all of the time. I would recommend this and I would purchase this again. It is a MUST HAVE for smokers!

Junk
What a piece of crap. Used it the first time today. I'm trying to cook a turkey breast on the patio no more than 30 feet away, and the remote readout can't maintain contact with the temperature probe? All I get is dashes on the display. When I walk over to the cooker, the remote begins to display the temperature of both probes. What is the point of having a remote, if you can't get further than 20 feet away? I can just walk over and read the temperature.Do NOT buy this thing. I'd give it zero stars if I could.Just to experiment on how bad I got ripped off, I put the remote no less than six feet away form the hub through a standard glass patio door and all I got was dashes. No temperature readings. What a piece of junk!

Both screens are easy to read at a moderate distance
It appears I received a unit that was returned from another person. The transmitter screen is hazy/scuffed as if somebody tried to clean it with something abrasive. Also it appears no protective film was on either screen even though there were stickers on each indicating to remove the film before use.Despite the above issues, I did test the unit while cooking some brisket and it worked quite well. Wireless transmission range was excellent-- the remote unit never lost contact with the transmitter despite the fact that the BBQ is on the complete opposite side of the house from the kitchen. Both screens are easy to read at a moderate distance. The interface for setting custom meat temperatures is a bit convoluted and required rereading the manual. Overall (as far as functionality), I'm very happy. However, I deduct a star for the condition in which the unit was sent to me for a supposedly new item.

Works Great!
Bought this to use with an electric smoker (don't poo-poo until you've tried turning a knob instead of keeping a charcoal fire stoked for 16 hours). Had a big family get together and smoked a boston butt in 90 degree heat while I sat in beautiful air conditioning watching the ballgame. Why, you ask? Because I had a tiny device on my coffee table telling me the exact temperature of the pork in two different locations on the 11 pound cut of beast. It all came out fantastic and now I have a rep as a bbq master (even though it was electric... again don't judge).Only disclosure is I haven't used it on any higher temps yet... however, if you're looking for a long cook "low and slow" in which you really want an active reading thermometer this one is clutch!

Great buy! You won’t regret it, and very easy to use
These thermometers are wildly cheap for being so well made. The range is enough to set outside and bring the remote unit into my kitchen about 75 feet away through a wall. I like that the main screen offers a temperature for the type of meat you select and that the pit mounted unit has a hanger on the back that helps you store it somewhere while it’s being used. Many people have commented on these and asked how much it cost me because apparently these are typically not cheap. I told them about it and they ended up getting the same kind.Very happy with the purchase and glad I didn’t go with the WiFi expensive kind. Just don’t seem valueable enoughIf you have any questions about this review please email me at [email protected]!

Works good with my electric smoker
Works good with my electric smoker. My only hesitation was that I thought the 2 probes were for the ability to keep temp on 2 different pieces of meat...apparently one is for ambient temperature (oven temp) and the other is for the meat. The VERY limited instructions say that one probe is straight vs bent and smaller than the other, both probes I received were bent, size difference is almost impossible to distinguish. I did notice one cable was thinner than the other but the probe itself was identical. The range of the thermometer reading was good, no problems with reading from a distance. Overall good product but not perfect. To be honest I did not even notice the difference in the 2 probes until after the second use, so I may have used the wrong probe the first time and the ribs did come out perfect!

Pricey but good
Should make the BBQ's on the smoker even better. Smoking needs long long cooking time so to know the internal temperature of the lump of meat is essential. Just on point, there are two probes, identical in length to ignore the FAQ which says the smaller one can be used to oven temp.
