Can be adjusted to go from espresso to french press.
Range of burr control is sufficient to allow the grinder to be adjusted from espresso all the way to french press. Use the included allen key to achieve burr contact on one end of the grind-scale, and the other end of grind-scale will be plenty coarse for french press. The allen key only need be used to make an initial adjustment - thereafter the grind control will allow you to pull shots and then immediately go to drip or french press (without needing the allen key).Weighing scale allows perfect precise espresso dosing. Unique in this respect, and fast repeatable shots are a result. No need for the Baratza portafilter holder. Pour the grinds from the bin into the portafiler for uniform distribution and to eliminate clumping. Works a treat. Using the Baratza portafilter holder won't allow the weight scale to function. Weighing the grinds is more accurate than timing them.Ergonomic design and user interface. We use it with our GS3, drip machine, and french press. Low enough to fit under kitchen cabinets. Built like a tank. Heavy. Study metal construction - not flimsy in any way. Pricey, yes, but cheaper than buying two quality grinders (one for drip/french, and another for espresso).Recommended.

Great grinder
This makes coffee that tastes absolutely amazing. I noticed I have to clean after *every * 14 gram grind, otherwise the taste is super muddy. I don't mind it because taste is amazing. Does anyone know why I have to clean after every single grind to avoid super muddy taste though?

Amazing Grinder!
I purchased this after the new Brevill Smart Grinder I ordered decided it couldn't grind more than 2-3 beans at a time without jamming (even then). This grinder may cost a tad over double the price, however this is way more than double the machine. The belt driven motor in this machine is a beast, and surprisingly emits slightly less noise than the Smart Grinder. The included tools make removing and if necessary calibrating the burrs very easy. I also like how the tools are metal and will more than likely last forever. The display is the only slight weakpoint this grinder posesses, as it's somewhat difficult to see the numbers clearly when looking at from any angle other than almost straight on. I absolutely love the amount of control this grinder offers when it comes to the grind size....the number of variations is incredible.Bottom line: This grinder is definitely worth the price if your serious about your coffee and want absolute control over your grinds without going stepless. Would purchase again if I had to do it all over.

Good value for the money
Purchased in 2018. Within a month the setscrew from the motor to the gears came loose. Customer service was very good. New motor. Better grinder for more consistent taste of the coffee. Takes about 1/4-1/2 pound to dial it in for the grind of a new bean.Good: Better refined taste you get than other less expensive grinders.Easy to use and setup.Never had it jam.Poor: The plastic cup that the grind goes in is very static friendly. Pain to deal with.Averall would I buy it again, yes. I replace this with 2 different $1800 grinders. One for Espresso and one for drip

I love my new grinder!
I upgraded from a Capresso burr grinder, which did a pretty good job grinding coffee. After seeing (and after tasting the coffee ground by) the Baratza Forte BG at a local restaurant I was impressed. The BG's consistent grind quality brings out the inner, nuanced, characteristics of coffee, making the purchase of this grinder well worth it. Plus, from what I hear, Baratza has excellent customer service, and parts (i.e. new burrs) can be ordered for their grinders.Update, 10/28/22: I had a little accident that involved my Boos cutting board and my Forte grinder, where the cutting fell and hit the Forte touch screen and cracked it (see pic). I contacted the Baratza customer service asking where I could purchase a new screen and they said they would send me a screen (I didn't have to pay for it!). Customer service was quick to respond to my inquiry and quick to ship out the new touch screen.

Quality issue after one year
I bought the grinder more than a year ago. Was happy for a while until now - the motor was running but the burr stop rotating once I add coffee or once the burr sense the pressure. It is not a cheap grinder and certainly I would expect high quality - but it seems not the case at this point.
