Maximum warmth for skinny toddler.
This wetsuit is worth the money. If you have skinny kid, buy this! My skinny toddler was shivering severely as soon as he got out of the pool. It was so bad I considered canceling the swim classes. I researched on amazon and bought this and the Speedo kids suit. This one is much thicker material and the quality is visibly high. Hence the higher price is justified IMO. Also this O'Neill fits him better, he is skinny and most clothes tend to be loose on him. Wetsuits are supposed to be snug and this one is snug on his legs but have some open space on arms. I thought it may not do as good of a job but it does! My toddler comes out of the pool and does NOT shiver anymore. Infact, he is nice and warm and stays warm until I finish changing my other child and get to him. He shivers slightly as soon as I unzip this wetsuit. This has room to grow and my toddler calls it superman suit and loves it! For the speedo suit, its thinner which is not necessarily bad, depends on how much warmth you are looking for. Also, it fit loose on my toddler and the sleeves are swimsuit material, not neoprene. If you want maximum warmth, snug fit for skinny kids, spend the money on the O'Neill. Worth the money.

It's A Great Suit
It's easy to get on and off. It fits well and is nice and slim which our daughter needed. It seems like so many kids clothes are made for chunky kids. It's only 2mm so don't expect miracle stuff here. This suit IMO is ideal for water that is just slightly cool and the edge needs to be taken off. We used it in Kauai and even the summer Pacific waters can be on the cool side for a younger child with no body fat.

Great quality
At first I thought it's overkill to get a real wetsuit for my toddler but this turns out to be worth every dollar. I got a size one wetsuit for my daughter at age 16 months (80 percentile). She is now 2 years and 3 months. It's still in great shape and there is room to grow. Bottom may be a little rough from sitting on stone and sliding on rough surfaces other than that it looks like new after 9 months of frequent use. It's been in the ocean, outside pool, inside pool and when spraying/playing with water outside. We go swimming at least once a week. No blue lips or shivering, ever. I frequently get comments how cool it looks. I have never seen anything that comes close in quality. If you want to keep your kid warm there is nothing else out there that actually does that.Be careful with the zipper! When you close it you should leave your other hand between zipper and skin and carefully close it. I once pinched my daughter's skin and now she reminds every time I close it. It's probably not a general design problem as all wetsuits are built like this, just be careful with the big, rugged zipper on bare skin.

Pink, size 3
Purchased for my 38lb, 40in, 4.5yr old to wear during swim lessons. She falls on the upper end of size 3, and the very low end of size 4. Went with size 3: it's alost perfect. Snug fit through chest and arms, like a wetsuit should be, and there is a bit of room in the waist/hips for a growth spurt. It does bunch up a bit at her hip when wet, but not enough that it gets in the way of swimming. The quality of the suit is great. I have an O'Neill shortie myself for wakeboarding, and would say this suit is just as well built as the adult version. There isn't a long zipper pull in the back, but not many 4 year Olds are going to be getting themselves into and out of this thing alone. She wore it for the first time in very chilly lake water this weekend: the combination of wetsuit and life jacket kept her warm and toasty. Good buy. Considering ordering one for our 18 month old, too.

Fantastic suit, fantastic results
My taller than average, but thin limbed 3 1/2 year old would whine and cry when it was time for swim lessons because she was such freeze baby, but no longer. She and her 5 y/o sister love these wet suits. No more tears, no more teeth chattering and turning blue. The suits are well made, thick and attractive. They seem to fit to size pretty well ( I ordered a 2 for my 3 y/o who weighs 34# and is 38" tall and a 3 for my 5 y/o who is 43# and 44" tall). The suits fit long in the trunk so I have a little growing room which is fine for me. They may fit tight however for kids with thicker necks and limbs. I feel like this suit is versitile...we could have used this for the very chilly indoor water park we attended last March and October, we could have used this this past very cool summer for more enjoyment at the spray parks or even while playing in our yard with the garden hose. They seem so warm that I might order one for myself!

Sizing
There was a lot of misinformation when it came to sizing on these reviews so I was very hesitant to purchase. My son will be 6 in May is 42 lbs (skinny) and is on the taller side. He wears a size 5 in pants and 6/7 in shirts. I got him a size 6 and it fits him like a glove. A size smaller and it would have been too small. It has helped him stay a bit warmer in outdoor swim lessons. Not sure if I will get two seasons out of it because it fits so snug now, but I'm happy for it now. Also, they have the sizing on the o'neil website and that is spot on. If your child is in the edge for height into the next size, get the bigger size (even if they are skinny). I am not sure what product the people received that said they got a size 2/3 for their 5 year olds. It isn't the one that is currently for sale that is for sure. Don't be fooled!

Highly Recommend! Sizes for very small toddlers!!
Our grandson is almost 2 years old and weighs about 21 pounds. His Poppy has been taking him to the Y for swimming lessons for almost a year and the water is so cold he shivers the whole time he is in the water and when he gets out. But he still loves his swimming lesson. Someone told my husband that they make wetsuits for toddlers so I of course went right to Amazon and read all of the reviews of all the wet suits. This one was highly recommended and other people’s reviews were so helpful. I read a review that mentioned they also had a toddler who was small, weighed 20 pounds and wore a Size 1. That sold me and I ordered the Size 1. It fits perfectly and he loves wearing it. He no longer shivers in the pool. When he outgrows it – I will order the next size. I highly recommend!
