Description

Epsom salt is a natural compound consisting of Magnesium and Sulphur, technically known as Magnesium Sulphate. Magnesium is an essential element in the chlorophyll molecule, and sulphur is an important micronutrient. Epsom salt is also used to correct a magnesium or sulphur deficiency in soil - 2 elements that play vital roles in the uptake of phosphorus and nitrogen in plants and the production of several plant enzymes. Epsom salt is approximately 20% Magnesium, 26% Sulphur. Use by sprinkling @ 3 gm / sq ft of soil or @ 30 gm / litre of water as foliar spray. Apply once a month. Symptoms of Magnesium deficiency: Yellowing / browning of leaves in spots, beginning with older leaves and around leaf edges. With further discolouration, only the veins remain green. Other symptoms are premature leaf fall and ageing of the plant. Sulphur deficiency also leads to discolouration of leaves but in younger leaves first, sometimes followed by older leaves. In both cases, water weekly till the symptoms disappear.
