cleared my face
Whether its the triclosan or something else in the formula, this is by far the most effective acne fighting product I've used. It has little to no scent and washes away very clean. It's very gentle on my face and there is never any drying or tightness which is good for acne suffers. I had actually given up on it, but just kept using it because I liked the way it washed my face, and then 2.5 months in, my face was suddenly significantly clearer and is staying that way. Also, I'm allergic to most bar soaps, and have zero issues with this one.I've read there's some controversial issues with triclosan regarding human health effects and washing it off into our water supply therefore affecting the environment. So far there's nothing concrete/conclusive, but the data is adding up to prove them right, however right now the EPA and FDA has that they have no reason to ban/restrict it or make any serious health claims. Some people are concerned that trioclosan is labeled as a pesticide, well about 99% of cleaning products are registered pesticides, check the labels. This is washed off your face so dermal toxicity is limited, supposedly. But you're still washing it down the sink for the fishes and frogs to deal with. The thing I AM actually worried about is contributing to the anti-bacterial super bugs. I'll be on the hunt for a non-bacterial formula that might work, but regular Cetaphil never worked for me.Cost. Its a pretty hard packed bar compared to most moisturizing bar soaps. If you keep this baby out of the shower stream, use it once or twice a day it's going to outlast most bottles of liquid acne face soap (that are typically more expensive) or other body bar soaps. My husband went through at least two bars of Dove since I've started using Cetaphil. I've been using it once a day for 3+ months and I still have a good amount remaining.

Awesome "soap" for keeping my eczema in check!
I have eczema that has been well-controlled since childhood, and I've had hardly any flare-ups since I was about 10. Since having a baby this past January, I wash my hands about three times as much as previously, which was probably a normal amount for someone working in a non-medical field. I was using regular antibacterial soap (Softsoap, Dial, and the like), and I started having really bad eczema-related flare-ups on my hands. I was moisturizing like crazy (using Eucerin, mostly), but it seemed like every time I put moisturizer on my hands, something would happen that forced me to wash my hands. My sister had been having the same problem on her hands and suggested Cetaphil Antibacterial Gentle Cleansing Bars for regular handwashing. She had been using them for a couple of weeks with good results, and the price for the 6-pack on Amazon beats buying even 3-packs at any brick-and-mortar store near me! I like that they are non-soap and don't feel like they are stripping my hands of all moisture.I got my dry patches completely under control very quickly between the Cetaphil cleansing bar and my Eucerin moisturizer. I feel a little old-fashioned having bar soap by every sink, since it seems like everyone uses pump soap these days, but it's a small price to pay to keep my hands in good shape!

Gentle on your skin, but not ultra moisturizing.
My husband and I have been looking for a good bar of soap that is antibacterial and doesn't roughen up your skin like sandpaper. Our choices seemed relatively limited as the other part of the equation is that we wanted to leave the shower feeling clean, not with a film of something unknown left on our skin - that's what lotion is for. This soap was recommended by his dermatologist and I can see why. It's ultra gentle on your skin and doesn't have the rotgut feeling of the cheap soaps. It has a pleasant baby-powder smell (I realize that that is subjective, so if you hate the smell of baby powder, it might be wise to stay away from this product as the smell does linger for quite a while). Additionally, it seems to last a relatively long time, this won't be a soap you'll be replacing every week with our type of use. Between the both of us we have probably 12 showers a week and they last from 10-15 minutes per shower. We replace the bar about every two weeks.I would suggest getting this pack rather than buying them individually once you like the soap as you're getting at least one bar free.

Helps protect against severe infant eczema flareups.
Look, this has triclosan in it. We all know the FDA has ruled out the rest of the world from using triclosan because too prevalent a use of it throughout the world leads to MRSA strains. However, I have an 18 month old that I have been battling SEVERE eczema with, its been so bad that his rashes have turned into full blown skin infections, blisters, sores, and eventually bullous infantigo. It was sad to see him covered in skin sores. So if this works for my baby then I'm going to use it. The rest of the world will have to deal with MRSA later. I have tried literally HUNDREDS of dollars of different creams, prescription medications, etc. I can't say that I've found the silver bullet to cure all eczema, but I will say that with the appropriate creams and this antibacterial soap to keep flare ups from getting infected, we've been able to keep things under control. This is a key part of our treatment plan and I have stocked up on this because its hard to find with the main active triclosan ingredient.
