Modtone Dyno Drive Distortion Overdrive Pedal The ModTone MT-OD Dyno Drive is a boutique style split bypass overdrive pedal that provides classic warm overdrive without compromise or noise. This rugged and compact guitar effects pedal comes housed in a durable, corrosion-resistant metal chassis that's built to last. Place this ModTone MT-OD in front of a clean amp, and you'll get just a hint of overdrive that will make your blues licks and chicken pickin' riffs jump out. Or, put it in front of your main overdrive tone to get a smooth lead tone that sustains for days! This overdrive pedal features a simple 3-knob configuration. The "Tone" control lets you go from a rich, understated overdrive to an aggressive sparkle with just a twist of the knob. Then there's the "Drive" control. This allows you to add just a touch of grit, or you can crank it up for some serious saturation - without your tone cracking. Finally, there's the "Level" option. This knob lets you control the amount of gain you want to add to your main signal. That's it. Three easy-to-use controls that enable you to get all the overdrive effects you want! The ModTone MT-OD Dyno Drive overdrive pedal also features period correct vintage style components, smooth linear taper pots that enable you to custom tailor your sound for maximum performance, high impact switches built for the floor, and top quality jacks for optimum tonal transfer. ModTone guitar effects pedals are affordably priced and designed to greatly enhance your guitar's tone; and they come with a great 5-year warranty! I really wanted to like this overdrive pedal.
This pedal isn't cheap, so when it arrived and I knew it would not suit me, I sent it right back. My best guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Junior Special with humbuckers and my amp is a Vox AC 15 tuber. These are the equipment I tested the pedal with. The sound was cheap and tinny, even with the Dyno Drives tone control turned all the way to the left. This thing just adds way too much treble and cuts the other tones.I ended up buying the pedal I should have gotten in the first place, the EHX Soul Food, which is a little more expensive (sixteen clam-olis more) but it comes with a power supply. Also, there are cheaper pedals out there, say for around 29, that will do a better job than this ModTone drive, and I am going to try one (the Joyo Vintage model) as soon as I can afford one.
