Love this thing! Edit: nvm it crapped out
Edit, Bad news first:My unit suddenly stopped working after 48 hours of moderately heavy use. Powered off and back on several times. Tried different cables, RCA vs. 3.5mm aux, but the audio signal was either staticky or garbled or no sound. Power cycling would potentially change the sound output, but only between really bad, worse, and not working at all, which are three not very good options if you ask me. The 3.5mm was usually the most garbled. RCA worked better, but still garbled. Before it stopped working, both outputs sounded amazing. But after it suddenly stopped working, I could never get it to work properly again. The unit was always plugged-in to a power strip / surge protector via the manufacturer supplied cable and USB wall charger, and the audio outputs were connected to a Logitech desktop speaker set, which functions flawlessly with other devices, and the speakers sounded great with this bluetooth receiver as well up until the moment it ceased functioning. Bluetooth never seemed to stop working, only audio. My devices still paired with the receiver and the status light would glow blue every time, indicating good bluetooth pairing. Only the audio output functions of the circuit board seemed to be messed up based on what I could tell. I also have another of the same unit, which I’ll keep if it doesn’t brick itself too. Will update if I hear from manufacturer or if other unit also fails. And below, my original, glowing review, lol:I’ll be honest, I bought it because:- “Bare” board looks awesome with the clear case exposing the electronics- They say it’s high quality audio, I’ll return it if it’s not. I mean people call out these Amazon listings that misrepresent specs right? Rightttt??? So we have pretty good reason to trust these specs, although I won’t attempt any rigorous testing. I’ll let my ears and the user experience be the deciding factors. Product appears to be of high manufacturing and design quality, despite the homemade aesthetic- Great reviews, no mention of annoying, repetitive beeping when disconnected like other brands do (the one bad review mentioned immediate failure of the device, but I doubt this is common as mine appears incredibly high quality. It may look hacky but this thing is professionally assembled. All solder joints look robotically perfect. And I’m sure a dead device can be returned for replacement)- All the cheaper brands with hundreds or even thousands of reviews seemed sketchy and unlikely to impress. Plus they look CRAPPY. Theres a Logitech one with bad reviews, and a Logitech knockoff with way too many 5 star reviews to be legit. There are more expensive brands too, but over $50 is outside my price range for a bluetooth receiver for a home sound system.- YOLOSo here is my opinion after one day: I frickin love this thing. It looks awesome and sounds great. I’m no “audiophile” so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but the audio sounds great over both 3.5mm and RCA. Have used it on $99 Logitech desktop speaker system w/ subwoofer as well as professional overhead speaker system at a music venue. Both were clear, rich, perfect audio quality as far as my novice ears can tell. Will update with more info at the very top of this review if anything changes.Bluetooth has awesome range, and connection seems to work fine. I was worried that the device might allow other devices to kick off the current device, but this is not the case. Only while it’s in pairing mode does it actually look to connect to other devices. Once connected, it holds the connection faithfully unless you venture outside its considerable range. Come back within range and it will automatically reconnect to your device, but you will probably need to press “Play” again unless the interuption was only momentary, in which case you may here some rough audio or skipping. Stay within range and you can move around as you please. Walls and especially metal objects will degrade range, but I tested it extensively in a big concrete / metal building, and let me tell you, this thing is impressive. Works fine across concrete walls and obstacles at a surprising distance. They did not skimp on the Bluetooth chip. Truly impressive. I was not aware Bluetooth had gotten this good. There is no authentication to the pairing: if it’s in pairing mode, any bluetooth device can connect to it, at which point no other device can connect to it unless you do one of the following: hold Play/Pause/Pairing button for 2 seconds, cycle power switch, break the Bluetooth connection from the music playing device, or take that music device out of range.Which brings me to the next topic: controls. There are only two, the Power Switch and the Play/Pause/Pairing Button. Power Switch is a satisfying metal switch on front side of the device which is of the variety that you flick up to turn on or flick down to turn off. It would only be better if it had a red safety shroud like switches in space capsules or fighter jets, lol. Very satisfying little switch, I’m telling you. It seems to be a durable switch with long failure life, not a cheap, dinky little switch that will break on you after thousands of cycles. I’ve replaced broken switches before by desoldering and resoldering them, anyway I don’t really know where I’m going with this except to say that I love this switch. It’s firmly supported by the clear plastic housing such that it doesn’t get overleveraged at its connection to the board. And finally the Play/Pause/Pairing Button is a little momentary-on switch on top of the board with a post that sticks up all the way out the top of the clear housing, terminating in the tiny white button that actuates the switch down below. Has a satisfyingly tactile clickiness. Click it once to Play or Pause media. Click and hold for two seconds to break the current Bluetooth connection and enter pairing mode. LED light on top of board between Power Switch and Play/Pause/Pairing Button will blink blue and red while pairing, or glow solid blue when paired. Turns red when pairing is stopped. There is a beeping sound that happens during the pairing/unpairing sequence. You get a high pitched single beep upon successful pairing or a lower pitched double beep upon disconnect. Thankfulky, the geniuses at Sunwaytek were clever enough to make sure the beeping does not continue indefinitely until bluetooth connection is reestablished, as reviewers of other receivers have alluded to. Rather, it beeps once to let you know connection is broken, and does not beep again unless you reconnect. There does not appear to be anything annoying or frustrating at all about this device. I literally can’t find fault with it yet, and I’m trying!Well I think that about covers it. I’m about as satisfied with this thing as any electronic device I’ve ever owned. Will update if it breaks or otherwise pisses me off. To the brilliant person or team at Sunwaytek in China who designed this awesome bluetooth receiver: thanks so much! This is the solution I was looking for, and it took the awesome “hacky” “bare board” aesthetic to catch my eye and convince me to pay double the usual ~$25 price of other Bluetooth receivers, and take a chance on this one, but I’m so glad I did. Exceptionally pleased with this purchase. I showed my bosses and we’re getting one for my work too!

Almost perfect BT receiver with great sound!
“Feel the nice of music flowing from your mobile, winding through the components, diffusing in the air, into your heart …”First of all, the seller deserves some sort of award for that product description :-)Well made, nice looking (in a nerdy sort of way :-), great sound, small size, easy setup, upgradable.Solved a lot of problems I was having streaming my music over WiFi.I only have two complaints:The power jack fits very loosely, I accidentally pulled it out several times during setup. Now that I’ve got it situated where I want it, I doubt it will be an issue. The status light is way too bright at night and because it’s right on the circuit board and the case is transparent, it shines out in every direction. I ended up cutting a little piece of rubber tubing just the right size to fit between the light and the top of the case, so now it’s only visible looking down directly from the top.

great...for a week... then pfffftt!
Love the look, the seeming quality, the instantaneous pairing with any of the 3 devices I tried it with, the sound was really good, esp. for Bluetooth playing from my phones and computer over my nearly 50-year-old Sherwood. I paid extra for what I thought would be a good looking and high-performing device. And it supports Apple's AAC sound.Got it on Oct. 27, enjoyed it until, well, yesterday Nov. 3, the first time we noticed just a bit of distortion. And then today, well, the distortion got worse, very much worse, very quickly, unlistenable. How does something as simple as this just crap out? It's not like the electronics of this is rocket science, not anymore - how it works, how it's supposed to work, is well-known.To Amazon's credit - as always - they're sending a replacement because I really do want this to work, and keep working, so I'm giving it another chance. But now the few bad reviews I saw before ordering are seeming more accurate than the glowing ones that made me decide to order. I'll update soon - the replacement arrives in two days. Meanwhile, I guess I'll be looking into an alternative, if anybody's got an idea for one.UPDATE 11/6/19: The new replacement couldn't pair with any of our devices, no matter what tactic we tried - turning BT off on all but the one we're trying to pair, one at a time, pushing the white pair button, restarting. It's going back immediately, along with the first one, and I'm giving up on Sunway. Next stop: Harmon Karden https://smile.amazon.com/Harman-Kardon-External-Bluetooth-Adapter/dp/B009CA7G92/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Harmon+Karden+bluetooth+receiver+for+stereo&qid=1573090485&sr=8-3

Buy this Bluetooth receiver!
If you have a "vintage" stereo receiver or preamp and would appreciate the ability to wirelessly transmit cd quality music from your phone or laptop, this device is for you. Simply plug the included RCA cables into the auxiliary jacks on your hifi, plug in the power and turn it on. While I enjoy investing in select and desirable LP albums, I can't afford to buy everything I may have an interest in listening to. I have a subscription based music service and my smart phone instantly connects to this receiver whenever I turn it on. Immediately, I can choose from 50 million songs or millions of complete albums. The connection is stable from anywhere in my home and it has never dropped the connection or failed to connect even once. An added bonus is you can set the volume on your stereo moderately high and use the volume control on your phone to raise and lower the volume. There are many of these to choose from here on Amazon, most less expensive...but this one I can confirm performs perfectly.
