Even better the second time around
I first read this book, when I was 16 years old and could not put it down. To this day (7 years later) it is still the scarist book I ever read. But I am currently reading it for the seventh time. Everytime I read it I notice something I missed the first time around. Buy this book in hard back because you'll definitely want to read it more than once.Season of Passage is primarily the story the US exploration to Mars that go to do research and find out what happened to the Russian crew that went before them. But the terror starts long before any of them ever leave the ground. With vivid nightmares and an unexplainable pull and dread of the 'dead' planet. There is also the underlying story that is being written by the younger sister of the main character. At the end the two stoies combine to an ending that will leave you wanting more and eager to read it again and again...There is so much about this book I could tell you but I won't for fear of giving the story away. But Mr. Pike did an extrodinary job of developing characters that seemed real enugh to touch, and invoke an emotional response from the reader. It's the little details that make this book great, and most readers won't recognize the significance till the last page. (Think Sixth Sense) This book is a must read.

Hooray!
First off this is one of the best books I have ever read. I had loaned my copy out years ago and never got it back, so when my son asked me what my favorite book was the other day, this one popped in my head as a contender. I wanted to read it again so I ordered it used, 'very good' condition. When I opened the package I thought wait, did I order a brand new copy on accident? The sticker on the back says "used-very good" but I would have labeled this copy as like new. There isn't a mark on it! No folded pages or dog eared corners. The spine is immaculate. The pages might be slightly yellowed from age but I can't say for sure. I have other paperbacks in this size that the pages are white but I think a different paper was used for those. The book also came when it said it would. Really happy with this purchase!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I have read this book several times in the past. If I really love a book, I will read it every 3-5 years. I have been looking for this book for a few years now! I received it today!! 😊 This book is just captivating from Chapter 1 until you finish it. I have always been a closet SciFi freak and always thinking "What if" when I get into a book. This book does just that. I am so excited to have this book back, especially in hard back!!

Season of Excellence
What is there to say about this book that 180 reviewers before me haven't already said? Not much, really, other than to affirm all those who have come before me. Enjoying an 89% rating of 5-Stars, all I can say is that Season of Passage richly deserves its high rank. Author Christopher Pike is an unsung maestro, and this is one of his best books, if not his very best. It is in many ways the Pet Sematary of sci-fi, and like that book is one I can come back to and reread over and over again without fatigue. Yes, it really is that good. If you haven't read it, you owe it to yourself to, and if you have, you know I'm just preaching to the choir. The only possible criticism I have? Get the hardcover, because the paperback's spine cracks easily under the weight of those masterful 400 pages.

Season of Passage
The Season of Passage is the only book I have read by Christopher Pike. If this is any indication of how he writes, I need to read a lot more by him. I loved this book; I loved the whole ambiance of the book and if I knew of any more like this one, I would grab it up.An unmanned space probe is sent to Mars. The pictures it brings back show foot prints. Four years later the Russians send a crew to Mars to check out this marvelous discovery. Contact is lost with the crew and nobody knows what happened. This prompts the Americans to send their own manned ship to determine the fate of the Russians. Imagine their surprise when they find the orbiting ship and one of the cosmonauts alive, despite the freezing temperatures. Dr. Lauren Wagner is puzzled by his missing pulse and the foolish grin that stays on his face. Things start getting creepy when he takes them down on the Martian surface and into some caves. It's a horrorite's dream with plenty of atmosphere and tense moments! Some of the members of the crew do not survive this ordeal and it's a story of survival at it's best.Meanwhile, back on earth Lauren's thirteen year old sister starts writing a journal about an ancient goddess that somehow ties in with what is happening on Mars.My only problem with the book is I didn't like the ending, but that's just me. I thought the book was exceptional and I would give it four stars. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the ending.

Arrived in excellent condition
I wish Pike had his books on audiobook so I could share them with my dyslexic husband. Pike's work is amazing.

Christopher is one of my favorite authors and he did not disappoint with this piece
Christopher is one of my favorite authors and he did not disappoint with this piece. The Season of Passage was incredibly unique and kept me glued to me seat. As soon as I finished it I wanted to read it again. It's incredibly well written, beautifully dark, and as I said before- unique. There's not another story like it and if you enjoy dark fantasy I highly recommend this!

Best Book Ever!!!
My all time favorite book, from my all time fav author! I checked this book out from the library so many times I finally decided to buy it. It is a strange story, to say the least, but anyone who is a fan of his other books is definitely going to love this one as well. It's a great story that has a lot of plot twists, really draws you into the characters so that you feel their problems and emotions as if you really know them. I have read it so many times and each time find something new to love about.
