Automatic Specialties Guardian Angel Child Safety Window Guard

I hate that I need these to begin with but that said they are truly that only product available that will fit my kids upstairs bedroom window. It is about 42 inches across, tall, and is a half circle rounded at the top so we had to order two of them and install them horizontally.Installation was a breeze. It comes with a template that you cut out and tape on the window to guide the drill holes. You drill two 1/8" holes on each side and screw in your upright pieces (screws included) and slide the bars in. I had both of them installed in under 30 minutes with "help" from my 7 year old and outright distraction from my 3 year old. They look as good as bars can look on a window and I draped a sheer over them which we needed for some privacy anyway.

Very simple construction, only requires 4 screws and you're done. Great for wide window openings. I was surprised that the instructions were a little difficult to understand (I'm an engineer by trade). We had to reposition the unit to get the proper spacing between the guard and the window sill. The guard is also removable for fire escape. Other than that, it's built solid. Please, for safety's sake, make sure it is installed properly and that it is screwed into something solid! I'm glad I have the piece of mind now that my daughter has started crawling.

Great concept and I definitely feel more secure however I feel the bars should be horizontal. They create ladder for the child to climb up.

This is a great, easy-to-use, sturdy product. We now have three of these across our wall of windows in our 2nd floor great room. Two summers ago, we had three incidents with toddlers leaning on the screens, pushing them out and nearly falling. Twice parents caught them and in the other case our 4 year-old granddaughter grabbed her 2 year-old sister around the tummy and pulled her back in - very scary and something we never thought about when designing the room. We have great ventilation and views with our 4' tall, low windows. I love that we can take the bars out over the winter when we seldom open a window past the security stop (we store them under a bed). The white brackets blend in with the white window frames and hardly show.

The product is very sturdy and easy to install. My complaint is more with the vendors return policy. We unfortunately bought the wrong size window guard and needed to return them. According to the vendors return policy we needed to pay for the return shipping which ended up being pretty expensive. When ordering please make sure that you double and triple check your measurements before ordering.

this is a window proofing item for people who are really serious about their safety! you have to screw it into the wall so you really need to be sure of where you want it to go before installing. i live in a 3rd floor apartment with large windows that slide open sideways (for lack of a better word) and not up and down like traditional windows. they're also set into the wall. i had to get permission to install this. it doesn't cover the entire screen that i would've liked it to so i also bought window wedges (which are tons cheaper), which you can also buy on Amazon. those aren't as reliable as these window guards but they'll certainly deter a toddler from opening the window any farther than what the guard can cover.

Reasonably easy to install, easy to remove quickly for fire escape purposes, but don't show the kids how to do it!Extremely sturdy.Though the product says not for use as a home security system, an intruder would have a difficult time getting through these bars, if they could at all.On an appearance side, the white actually blends in nicely so you won't feel as if you are imprisoned with bars in the windows.Unfortunately they are very expensive and if you have tall windows, you are supposed to order double because the kids could scale them as a ladder and fall out.But if you want peace of kind, these are the window bars you want to invest in.

Buy the other guards offered on amazon by prime line; the prime line are better made and cost half the price of these window guards which are shoddily made. The bars are held in place by small metal studs as opposed to welds with a locking feature. The three vertical bars make installation into walls utilizing screws in the side near impossible (, as bars get in the way of drill or screwdriver). Overall I am disappointed with this product as the metal is thin on the bars. Do yourself a favor buy the prime line bars for half the price (, and twice the quality of these guards).
