My 4 year old loves puzzles so I though this would be perfect for her. The appearance of this puzzle is kids friendly. It is super easy for my 4 year old to use and very light weight.

I love the concept of these jigsaw puzzles in terms of ...
I love the concept of these jigsaw puzzles in terms of teaching a kid how to do puzzles and spell at the same time. We got this for our 2 year old that loves puzzles and letters, so it was a win win for us. He loved them so much that we had to take in a couple of the puzzles to daycare to help sooth him when he was having a rough days. All the puzzles are either 3 or 4 letter words and are pretty easy to put together. The puzzles themselves are pretty sturdy, but not too stiff that it makes it hard to put them together. The words spelled out in these puzzles are popular words that toddlers can easily recognize the pictures of like dog, cat, pie, bird, bug, tree, which is perfect for helping them connect the dots of how to spell there favorite things while keeping them entertained at the same time. The only downside I can say about this is that it is that the storage isn't ideal. There really isn't a way to separate the puzzles, so all the different puzzle pieces mix together in the box. Our son will dump out all the pieces and you kind of have to do a scavenger hunt for the right pieces. Right now we just find a couple of his favorite words and leave them out on a table so we don't have to constantly go through the box and find the right pieces for each of those puzzles. With that being said, our son is only 2, so as he gets older, he will be able to sort through all the pieces in the box and match them to the right puzzles. In fact, it could end up being a challenge for him, and a good thing.

Good 3 letter puzzles, not all CVC words
The Letters puzzle is good quality materials, with good photos BUT the advertising images are misleading. They only show CVC words which is what my kindergarteners are working on so I bought a few sets as gifts. However when I opened one up, just over half of the cards are CVC words. There are quite a few others that show vowel teams and spelling patterns not introduced in my district until late 1st grade or even 2nd like "bee" and "pie" for example. These will be fine for the kids who are visual learners and will memorize these spelling patterns but as far as decoding or actual reading of the words with the sounds they know, these will be confusing.

26 letters in the alphabet
When I received this, I was a bit worried that it wasn't the complete alphabet because the box says 20 sets of cards. Thankfully, all 26 letters are present and accounted for. It's really hard to find products that isolate the capital and lowercase letters so I was super happy to find this. I follow a Montessori style approach so I plan on introducing the picture sounds, then the lower case, then the uppercase. The self correcting component is super important as well. I recently picked up a similar set at Target that are not self-correcting. They won't teach the child bc any letter and picture can match even when completely incorrect. My only critique is that the letter /i/ uses ice as the picture instead of igloo with the short vowel sound. I am going to draw an igloo on there. I may also draw a colored border around the vowels to distinguish them. The cards are nice and thick though my daughter hasn't played with them yet to truly see how they hold up. Overall, I think this set is a really affordable option and I'm happy with my purchase.
