NAXA Electronics Portable MP3\CD Player with PLL FM Radio (NPB-429)

I bought this"ghetto blaster" for the missus for Christmas. If you don't know what a ghetto blaster is you didn't grow up in the 80's!!! LolInitially it's a nice looking unit however it is very light lacking any real weight that would indicate quality. Speakers alone are so light that I wonder how big the magnets are.It does play CD's very well and the sound is clean and clear while playing a CD.Radio reception is craptastic and staticy. No I didn't try aluminum foil on the antennae or adding some copper wire. Radio reception was displeasing.Volume is my biggest issue and complaint. It's certainly not very loud. This may be intentional as higher volumes might show crackling etc in the sound however I can't say for sure. I can say that I own smaller pocket size radios that are a hell of a lot louder. So for an outdoor party type radio I think this is a disappointment.Originally purchased for outdoor use in the summer. BBQs, 4rth of July, get togetherness and bonfires with beer and drunk people having a good time etc.I wouldn't buy this item again and I won't return it as I don't feel it's worth any additional shipping costs to return it. I'll deal with it and the wife will use it as an oversized indoor CD player for mellow relaxing volumes.It does however put out very clean and clear sound! Just quiet as a fart in church on full volume.Hope this helps someone. I need to see if Sony etc still make party radios and go from there.I also have to say I did not expect this item to compete with products costing 5X as much but really it should compete with the flea market radios that are all over California for similar to less money and it doesn't.Sorry as I sincerely dislike leaving poor reviews.As always should you find my review helpful please click so we can help Amazon and others by getting rid of crap reviews that do nothing but take up space yet inform the consumer (us) of nothing.
