SafeChew Newt Dog Toy, Large, Tomato

I was so happy when i found this toy.It shipped ultra fast and when the newt arrived i was hopeful it would finally be a toy that would fit my dogs.Its the right size for my labs but not too big that my havanes-mix couldn't drag it around. The bright color would make it easy to find in the back yard and its material would enable me to wash the dirt off.Well, 30 minutes later I found the pieces of what was a newt all over my living room.My little puppy was happily pouncing a severed leg but the rest of the toy was being ignored after the initial carnage.I threw away the pieces and kept the main body because every so often it would get picked up and carried around.That is when i noticed the smell.I'm not sure if it the "chicken flavor" or the material its made out of but it had a medium strong bitter scent that drove me crazy. After 3 days i tossed it out. Nothing like waking up in the morning and wondering what that strange smell next to the bed is.I don't know maybe I'm overly sensitive to the "scent", but i didn't feel like testing it by having friends over and asking them if they "smelled anything funny".2 stars for form, size + color.It would have lasted a lot longer if it had been hallow + squishy, instead of a solid piece.And it smelled "funny".It was a good idea for a toy but its not a toy I personally will buy again.

My 5 month old lab puppy loved this toy, but it took only 20 minutes for him to take off the legs and tail. I let him chew the body, however, when the back of the package says,"Free from small parts which can cause choking and digestive blocking." I doubt that completely.

milo loved it but i thought it would be lighter and softer, but he still drags it around and loves to play with it.

My dog absolutely loves this toy. It promotes chewing and he loves the taste. They last approximately 6 months and his an avid chewer. Even when it is down to a tiny little piece he is still loving it. The smell is strange but does not bother me if he loves it.
