Phenomenal Budget Bag
Having no prior reviews, I took a gamble and bought two of theses bags--a long and a regular. The specs are very similar to Western mountaineering's Versalite (which is a 10F bag, with 20oz of 850+ fill down, weighing 2lbs, $575+tax). This aegismax bag claims to have 23oz of 800 fill, weighing 2.2 lbs(for the regular) and only $155. From the look and feel of these bags, those specs seem to be spot on. The first thing I noticed was the huge amount of loft! It easily has 7" or more of loft. It feels like climbing into a cloud. The regular fits me perfectly(5'8"), but the long is just a bit too roomy for my husband(5'11") (it fits up to 6'5"). A big thing for us was having bags that zip together, which these do easily; they zip down to the ankles and the toe boxes remain separate. There are two toggles to cinch the hood and neck and a baffle around the neck to keep cold air out. It also comes with a stuff sack and a storage sack. The stuff sack has one side that has a buckle to make it easier to apply. It stuffs down to a very small size (I was able to compress it down to 10 x 7 1/2"). I haven't been able to weigh this bag myself, but it appears to be as light as advertised. The cons are that the down isn't dry down, the zipper baffles are small, and the zippers can easily catch on the fabric/are difficult to zip. Wishing they offered a Regular with a right zip so two regular bags could zip together. Overall, I think these bags are a major steal for someone who is on a tight backpacking budget!
