It reads like a novel instead of a textbook
As a play therapist, this book is really helpful in explaining the science behind how this modality works. It reads like a novel instead of a textbook, which is always a welcome change of pace. This is also a great tool for explaining play therapy to parents who are skeptical of the importance of play. Can't argue with sound neuroscience!

Play
A very important book that delineates the importance of play. Theresa Kestly weaves together current research on interpersonal neurobiology and her own experience as a play therapist and teacher to form a more complete understanding of the characteristics of the right and left hemisphere, thus a more complete understanding of what it is to be human.

So far a great job explaining the science and then giving an example ...
So far a great job explaining the science and then giving an example of the behavior behind the science. The connection between the two is smooth. The science explanations do get technical but it's clarified with diagrams and charts for us visual learners. I would recommend this book for anyone working with children and maybe even some parents.
