Excellent Advice Backed With Good Scientific Data
This is an excellent book, well written by Dr. Rossman who brings together many aspects from a wide variety of sources as: ancient yoga, meditation, The Serenity Prayer, positive thinking (as advocated in Norman Vincent Peale’s classic The Power Of Positive Thinking but he takes this to a dynamic dimension invoking sensory perception), affirmations, spirituality and the importance of rituals and more. Many of these elements are old news but he breaths new life into them as he incorporates and coordinates them into his system of prompting the mind and body to reduce stress and find a healthy mental, emotional and physical balance. His primary focus is on sensory focused relaxation techniques that enhance positive brain connectivity. And most importantly he explains much of his method by backing them up with proven scientific findings that affirm how and why these things work. Last, but not least, Dr. Rossman injects an occasional entertaining humorous references such as Mel Brooks reference on the origin of religion by his “2,000 Year Old Man” character. I tend to view self-help books with a critical eye because there are a gazillion of them out there but very few that are really good — this is a very good one.

How Each of Us Can Find Our Own Worry Solution
This book is easy to read, understand, and use. I am working on the practices to worry less, take positive action, and live a more creative life. If you will give it a real chance and not take its simplicity for granted, I'm confident you will get a lot out of this book.Suggestion: Fix Small Font and Dark Text Background to improve readability.I really hope a next edition of this very valuable book will be reformatted to upsize the small font size of the main text, and to really upsize the very, very small text font size in the guided imagery exercise boxes. It would also help greatly to remove the shaded, dark background of these boxes. More contrast of a lighter page background to contrast with the black font would make it so much easier to read these important sections.

The Wisdom of Imagery
Dr. Marty Rossman has been a leader for many years in advocating for and creating training opportunities for working with imagery. He is well loved by those of us who share the good fortune of knowing him. As he states in this book "imagery makes room for the silent, emotional, intuitive areas of our brains to express themselves and add their wisdom to our perspective." In The Worry Solution, he takes the readers through a thorough description of how this statement can be put into effect in terms of reframing the human capacity for worrying. It is written without jargon so that the lay person can easily understand interesting findings from neuroscience that are included. His brief imagery excercises serve to ground the reader in applying the principles of beginning a relationship with metaphor and in noticing the shifts that occur in body-mind-spirit when one engages in these practices. Make Your Good Worries Better!
I read Dr. Rossman's book while on retreat with Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh in Vancouver, British Columbia. I find the book to be completely worthwhile and I keep it near me on my desk. My wife and I have given it to many people as gifts, especially friends suffering with cancer.I was especially impressed with Chapter 7: "Making Good Worry Better." The seven steps of effective action are exceptionally helpful and worth the price of the book.Chapter 8 on "Minding Your Brain" explains how to effectively increase neural pathways in the brain for increased health and longevity. I found this chapter very interesting.While I have not listened specifically to the CD's for "The Worry Solution," I have enjoyed his other works such as "Anxiety Relief," "Healing Yourself" and "Natural Restful Sleep." Each of these CD sets contain excellent guided imagery exercises that benefits all of us.Don't hesitate to purchase "The Worry Solution" and it's CD set!Jerome Freedman, Ph. Great book--VERY helpful--read it!
This book has terrific advice and it is highly readable. Dr. Rossman has an easy-going style that gets right to the heart of the issues. He is entertaining but the content is serious and very helpful. My husband and I bought this book from Amazon in late December, and it is only 3-4 weeks later, but I truly believe I can already feel a reduction in stress just because I read this book and have begun to use Dr. Rossman's techniques and advice. I am not a doctor, and I am not a health professional but you surely do not need to be one to really get a lot of useful advice and help from The Worry Solution. I highly recommend it!

How to stop worrying
After reading this book and following the steps, I found that I really achieved the result I was hoping for. It is a soothing way to overcome anxiety associated with constant worrying.

Excellent book. A step above the normal "how to stop worrying" book. The author explains things in a little different way, making things easier to understand. He also gives relaxation exercises that are very helpful! I would definately recommend this book.

Very helpful approach
I bought this because I found a YouTube lecture by the author and thought his methods sounded great. I had never read any of his work before but have found him to be a very good writer and very good book. It helps that he is a doctor with 40 years experience in the field of general medicine. Very clear, informative, straight to the point and backed up by a lot of common sense and good scientific research. Highly recommended. You can start to feel better right away when you practice his techniques.
