This hook remover is soooo much easier to use than the older style that's just a straight metal rod with a handle at one end and a u-curve in the other end. With this dehooker, I can get a good grip on the hook and then turn it in whatever direction it needs to be for the point of the hook to come of the fish's mouth. I bought a different dehooker, same style as this one but a different brand -- the handle broke before I ever even got to use it. This one, I've already used it to release some large catfish and baby sharks and it worked great!

Handle is designed good allowing you to grab it from really any angle so you don't gotta fuss with it while you have a fish. Great for beginners to fishing who are scared of getting hooked or don't like touching the fish. So so so glad I bought this. Sturdy, and efficient.

Looking in to a mouth full of razor sharp teeth is no place to try to use a pair of pliers to retrieve your $$$$ lure. We would have cut the line and lose the lure if it were not for CrazyShark. Successfully removed the hook every time with the fish staying in the water for a clean catch and release. Don't fish the ocean without it.

Went out fishing, caught a nice bass, the hook was swallows. First time using this and I had the hook out in 20 seconds. No more fumbling with needle nose pliers. Will be getting another one of these for my wife.

This hook remover works very well and feels heavy duty. The only reason why I am giving it 4 stars and not 5, is that 3 out of the 6 fish I have used it on I've cut the hooks in half just by gripping them. I'm sure that a heavier hook wouldn't have the same problem but for my freshwater hooks it has happened more than I think it should.

Easier to use than the ones with the loop at the end. Bought this to comply with the new shore base shark fishing regulations, but COVID-19 put the brakes on our annual vacation to FL, so never got to use them on a shark. I had to settle with practicing on catfish and northern pike here in NY. They work great to remove barbless circle hooks from catfish and un-hooking pike from lures with treble hooks. With pike, it keeps your hand away from both the teeth and the flopping trebles when the fish decides to do a bit of thrashing. Very sturdy and easy to use. Gets hooks out quickly, minimizing trauma/stress to the fish when catch & release fishing for any species, while protecting your hands from potential injuries when removing treble hook lures from toothy pike. Works great. Like another reviewer mentioned, slight learning curve, but once you got it, you’ll wonder why you didn’t have this before. Great for getting out gut swallowed hooks from fish you plan on keeping.

We have use this de-hooker on several fishing trips and on a dozen different types of fish. Including snook, reds, trout, cat fish, and even a shark. This is one of the best fishing investments I have made. Works great. Looks great. Well worth the few dollars to purchase. Not sure why I did not purchase one of these years ago. I would recommend to friends and family.

Bought this for my Dad for unhooking dogfish. He reports it worked well on it's first use and saved his hands from the sharp dogfish teeth. ... bit the aluminum shaft rather than his fingers. So far so good. I hope it is sturdy enough for multiple years of use!

I like it but I’m still having a hard time figuring out how to get it to work properly. Usually end up going back to my pliers

Works great, keeps all the fingers attached when removing a hook from a muskie or pike
