A seminal work
This is a well written work about angels. The subject matter urges books such as this. Truly brilliant details. A must read!

Most amazing book about the angels
Once you read this book your world view will be forever changed. Very rich treatment of angeology based on the Scripture, early Fathers of the Church as well as western theologians like Aquinas. We know that saints lived in close awareness of angels through the grace of knowledge given to them by God. Through this book we are able to learn about angels and their roles - and that is also a great grace.

Angels Speak Well
This is an interesting short book. One doesn't think much of angels in these days but in former ones they were much moreof a concern and an interest. Danielou is French which gives a sort of a different flavor to what we are used to reading unlesswe get Revel, Manent, and that level of thinking. Angels speak well. Mark Twain's book on Joan of Arc is the sort of eye openerthat demonstrates their interventions into "history". I have picked several of Damielou's works to read and may come back to thisshort one after I know a bit more.

Great book on the subject
This is a great book for those interested in patristics and divine council theology. It has a few places which make very clear that a certain view is held because of essential biblical texts to support it. Even though I didn't agree entirely with certain views, it was a breath of fresh air to see certain arguments rest entirely upon specific biblical texts and their patristic interpretation. It was especially refreshing for me to interpret those Scripture passages very differently then some early church fathers, which all the more convinced me that there is no such thing (and never has been) an infallible church or church council. Even a seemingly unanimous interpretation by the church fathers is evidence of unanimous fallibility.

Know the Angels and What They Do for God
Danielou is an excellent theologian, one who know what he writes about from having prayed with it and over it. His insight is very penetrating and mystical. He is in touch with God and the realm of God. He knows Scripture intimately and brings all that wonderful knowledge and insight to bear in his discussion of the angels. He also knows well the writings of the Fathers of the Church, so his theology is rich and widely referential. If you are interested in a true theology of the angels and their work and mission on our behalf, read this book. It is way more enlightening and penetrating than the New Age stuff.

this is a wonderful read. It provides a wealth of knowledge about ...
If you are a fairly ignorant, long time practising Catholic such as me, this is a wonderful read. It provides a wealth of knowledge about the profound role played by angels throughout our life through to our final destination. It also gives excellent insights into the significance of the Mass and the role the angels play in the eucharistic celebration. It enhanced the understanding I gained of such, from Scott Hahn's "The Last Supper"

Theology of the Angels
This book is heavily dependent on the writing of the early "Fathers of the Church" So very interesting and written at a high level. I can't believe the research the author did to write this book, especially since this was written before the "information age". No fantasies or no warm stories. This book is a theology study.

Gave me something to ponder
I've never bought a book directly on angels. We read about them in other books. This one was very interesting and gave me something to ponder as I think about the universe and life.

Eye opening and beautiful
Regrettably, much of the modern associations connected to the word "angels" has been hijacked by New Age-ey modern fads. This book by Cardinal Danielou is a beautiful, refreshing insight about the Angels, their beauty, and their mission, according to the Church Fathers. This is one of the books which will surely change your way of seeing the world, and of going through daily life. Simply captivating - I finished it from cover to cover in less than 24 hours!
