French Island Elegance

Since I have a lot of dark mahogany furniture, this book gave me a lot of ideas of how to turn a Florida home into a Caribbean getaway copy. It's a work in progress but the book taught me that less is more in order to achieve that effect.

The book came up in a search on British Colonialism. Bought the book to learn more about these tropical islands, and decor. The author has thoroughly researched this subject and done an excellent job of portraying his topic in words and photographs. Enjoyed the book very much.

I love this style of decorating and was pleased with the book. Plan to try to duplicate some of the looks in my SW Florida home.

very disappointing. bought this book on the strength of the rave reviews on this author. no, this book is like a furniture catalog. all fluff, furniture pictures that one can find on the internet. The book does not offer any context on how the houses are unique nor does it offer any insight on how the houses are a reflection of the French islands or French colonialism. in fact, in many pictures the furniture is exactly the same which means it is staged inside the house and not original to the house. will not buy any more book by the author.

Michael Conners does a good job and the photographs by Bruce Buck are stunning. This is a book on the interiors of the Great Houses of the French Caribbean.

Beautiful book, a fireside friend, lots of lavish pictures and interesting stories, this book is genuine stress therapy in itself, I first came across it in a genuine French fabric store for more than double Amazon's price, glad I waited and I'm delighted to own it.
