I Am Death: A brilliant serial killer thriller, featuring the unstoppable Robert Hunter (Robert Hunter 7)

Absolutely brilliant!! I have just finished reading this book and it took my breath away.I don’t usually like the over cliched phrases “page turner” and “unputdownable” as they are used so much they loose all their meaning. But with Chris Carter’s books these phrases are totally appropriate.After Chris Carter’s superb previous book “An Evil Mind” which I thought would be a hard act to follow in terms of being thoughtful and well written and emotionally wrangling; now we have his latest gut wrenching offering which is just as good (maybe even better) as every book that has gone before.Carter says on his website that he didn’t think it was as gory as his other novels. I beg to differ. I thought it was just as gory as the others, as blood, guts, torture and pathos abound. Most of it will move you to tears. And Carter brings back Hunter’s sidekick Garcia for this one, so we are on very familiar territory with the characters we have all come to know and love.Three young women are abducted and murdered in an increasingly gruesome manner. The killer signs each of his murders I AM DEATH. And so a particularly nasty serial killer is one the loose and has no qualms about sending detective Robert Hunter and the mayor of LA cryptic clues as to his identity.This is a wonderful story with two great twists. I the first one I anticipated, but the second one left me reeling.I would love to discuss some of the finer points in detail, but of course I can’t as that would be giving away spoilers.So I can only say that it’s a breathtaking, brutal, brilliant, heart thumping and very moving story - and very hard to read in places - a bit like trying to watching a very scary movie through half open fingers.I loved it.

I am a great fan of Chris Carter having read all of his Robert Hunter series, this book his most recent is up to Chris Carter's high standard of page turner.. Once you start reading 'I Am Death' (his 7th book) you will not be able to put it down. Chris Carter's writing is so powerful you start to believe you are there and almost want to engage in dialogue with Robert Hunter and some of the other characters. At the end of Chris Carter's books I start cheering and immediately start looking for his next Robert Hunter book. I can highly recommend 'I Am Death' and suggest you buy all of his Robert Hunter books as you will enjoy them so much. Start with his first Robert Hunter book 'The Crucifix Killer' and take it from there.

I find when I'm reading any of his books, they clearly play out in my head like a movie and this book was just the same.This book is quite gruesome in parts with graphic descriptions of what the victims go through and has one of the most cold and confident serial killers that I've ever read about. His lack of human emotion and his ability to lead Hunter a merry dance makes for some great reading and a book that you will read well into the night (as long as you don't scare easy). The ending was quite surprising, just when I thought I knew who it was, bang, the real killer is revealed.Another great read from Chris Carter, looking forward to starting the next book in the series, The Caller.

From the off I am death is fast paced with lots of twists and turns along the way, there are also plenty of red herrings thrown into keep the reader guessing to the end, and the ending well suffice to say the killer came as a complete surprise to me. Chris Carter goes from strength to strength, with each book he writes, and in my is opinion one of the best crime writers of this genre I for one will eagerly await his next book. One small gripe the price of the kindle was more expensive than the hardback edition, so I imagine some readers who prefer to read books on their kindle may wait until the price drops

"I am Death" was just like most of Chris Carter's Detective Hunter books very well written and engrossing. I thought I knew what the twist at the end was going to be but I was wrong, I was actually very surprised by the gut-wrenching plot twist.I would recommend this book to other Chris Carter fans and people who enjoy detective, crime, mystery fiction.I would not recommend it to people who like happy endings. This book contains fictionalised child abuse and is potentially very upsetting.

As I continue to read the Robert Hunter series I love every minute of the book, the knowledge that is put into every page is outstanding I find that I can’t get enough of Robert - yes I know he is a fictional character but still I love him - keep them coming ❤️

Chris Carter ist für mich der zur Zeit mit Abstand beste Thriller-Autor! Seine Bücher sind konsequ ent spannend, intelligent und bis zum Schluss durchdacht geschrieben. Ich warte nicht mehr auf die deutsche Übersetzung, da diese oft erst mehr als 1 Jahr später erscheint. (An Evil Mind - Juli 2014/Die Stille Bestie - September 2015!) Da eine Freundin die deutsche Version liest, ich ja aber bereits das Original kenne, kann ich auch sagen, dass beim Übersetzen oft zuviel "künstlerische Freiheit" waltet, was wirklich hier und da die Qualität ins Negative herabsetzt. Daher kann ich jedem, der auch nur Schulenglisch "drauf hat", raten, das englische Original zu lesen. Chris Carter schreibt ein leicht verständliches Englisch, und auch die kurz gehaltenen Kapitel machen das Verständnis leicht. Also ruhig ran wagen! Es lohnt sich!

Wenn ich 1000 Sterne vergeben könnte, dann wäre es für diesen absoluten Bestseller! Wahnsinns Buch, hammermässig geschrieben und hält was der Introtext verspricht. Von Splatter über Mord und Totschlag aus realen Fällen, zu grausigen Funden und realen Geschehnissen: dieses Buch übersteigt das menschliche Vorstellungsvermögen und ich habe KEINEN Autor gefunden, der dies toppen kann! Wer Fan von grenzwertigen Kriminalfällen, die tiefste menschliche Abgründe aufzeigen, ist und eine lebhafte Fantasie hat, der wird das Buch nicht mehr aus den Händen geben. Ich empfehle es nicht auf die Nacht zu lesen - man sollte das Gelesene auf keinen Fall in den Träumen verarbeiten. Einfach spitze und Gänsehaut pur!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mein zweiter Thriller, den ich von ihm gelesen habe; warum bin ich nicht früher auf ihn aufmerksam geworden? Vom ersten war ich genauso begeistert. Werde jetzt nach und nach alle Bücher von ihm lesen. Super spannend, super recherchiert, sympathischer Protagonist. An keiner Stelle langweilig, kann man in einem durchlesen. Freu' mich schon auf die anderen.

Having read all the novels of mr Carter, this is a very chilling, frightening story bout thanksfully the 2 main characters appear again, lots of gruesome images come to mind reading this book and it has a surpisingin end worth to read if you like chrime stories with an horror twist

It is fine thriller and an ending with a twist. What I like about Chris Carter's stories are that you will never be able to predict the twist.I would recommend this book to only those who have strong stomach as some of the contents make you gag or skip those parts and continue.

I don't usually read crime books but I'm glad I gave this one a try because I was hooked! Great storyline with an unexpected twist, great writing I'll def read more from this author

Chris Carter is one of the best fictional serial killer writers I have ever read. Each book amazes me, as each books story line is just as good or if not better than the last. Love Hunter and Garcia.

Having just read another new release from one of my former favourite authors and been totally disappointed I was hesitant to read this . However once again Chris Carter has delivered an amazing read. Quite gruesome at times but I was absolutely captivated from the first page to the last. I sat up until the wee hours of the morning as I couldn't put it down. Great storyline, had absolutely no idea who the killer was..... Loved it!

Die Bücher aus der Robert Hunter Serie von Chris Carter sind alle absolut lesenswert, ebenso dieses. Spannend, intelligent und einfallsreich geschrieben.Ich kenne nicht viele vergleichbar gut geschriebene Bücher und freue mich schon auf die Fortsetzung.

Easy to read and follow, fantastic twists. Keep you on the hook wanting to read more and the perfect length to not drag on.
