WiFi Smart Plug 2 Pack, Alexa Power Outlet LUMIMAN APP Remote Control 13A 2500W

I purchased the Smart Plug twin pack. On arrival I set one up on the Smart Life App, as I already had Lumiman and other makes of bulbs linked to it. I had the plug registered on the app and linked to my Goggle Mini in about 2 minutes. Its currently running my Lounge Christmas lights.The plugs have a very small profile and basically look like a fat UK 13A plug in size. You can plug both units side by side on an un-switched four way extension cable.DO NOT plug it directly next to a Modular power supply like a mobile phone charger as one of mine has now blown up and I think it was because I had it plugged into a power extension strip with a mobile phone charger plugged in both sides of it. These have high frequency oscillators in them to convert mains power to a lower voltage and I think they interfere with the Smart plugs power unit, making it overload. Another reviewer has had a similar problem.There is a lip at the bottom of the Smart plug to miss the mains switch on switched sockets it also keeps the switches in the ON position. There is a manual on/off button on the side where a cable would normally come out of a normal plug, so you don't need to turn the power off to the plug. I have another Smart Plug by a well known company that was twice the price and is wider so will not fit on an extension cable with plugs both sides.The Smart Plugs are replacing two digital timers that I used to turn the Christmas Lights on and off. Both had failed backup batteries and so would not boot up when plugged in. The Smart Plugs were only £3 more than a new digital timer and far more flexible. They also link to my Google Mini so I can just say "Hey Google, turn on the Christmas lights" and all the Christmas lights in the house turn on. Brilliant.I had an issue with the second unit but a quick email to their Support address fixed that problem. Lumiman are a Chinese Company so I wasn't expecting a reply within 30 minutes. Emails went back and forth all within a few hours. The emails were written in proper English and fully understandable, unusual for a non English speaking company. I suspect the support guy (Alan) was either English or American. The English was that good. The second unit is running my Extension Christmas Lights. Obviously don't connect more than a 10A load to the plug, make sure the fuse in the plug that plugs into the Smart plug is lower or equal to 10A NOT 13A. The relay inside it must be very small and this could be damaged if you try to plug a 3KW heater into it. Personally I wouldn't use it to switch more than 8 amps.

Lumiman, a name you may not have initially heard of provide several home automation products today I am rating the range of lumiman smart plugs.I previously tried non branded smart plugs when they first came to the forefront of technology, difficult and cumbersome to try and get to work - they failed at being easy to use and integrate into the ease of use home category, that was until Lumiman plugs came - I first bought 1 thinking that if I just test 1 and it might not work it would be easy to send back for a refund - I got the product home and connected it to my smart phone - the set up took 4 seconds to connect to my home wifi - the instructions were easy with the use of the phone app it made it simple adding to the network - it guides you through a process and is literally childs play to set up - just hold the button for a few seconds follow the online prompt and voila connected - the app is fantastic and a simple touch on the app and it is like a wizard is magically pressing a magic button to get your electronic items to work - I was impressed! I wondered if it was the up to date plugs that were so simple to use and so I purchased another non branded plug which failed to work - returning it again and kicking myself for not buying a lumiman, I immediately purchased another which connected like a breeze.I purchased an Amazon Echo / Dot and followed the guide on how to link - simple enough you add the skill lumiman and now plusminus and ask alexa to search - it was found instantly and suddenly we were powering everything on and off by voice. As the months have gone past we have bought another 8 plugs which we use with Alexa, Google and Siri all correctly turning on and off our heaters, lights, tvs, and fans. The plugs are so simple to use with a physical on off switch should you suddenly lose your voice.I have never been ore happier with the lumiman smart plugs and have encouraged family and friends to purchase.The best function is the rooms and timer function - In Winter my plugs turn the heating on when I want to - for me they are on an hour before bed and before wake up - the fans I use my voice to turn on and the same for the tv. Should I fall asleep with the tv on I dont have to worry as the timer is set to auto switch off at 1 am.The best part is knowing that due to my own settings if I leave the house everything is turned off until I come home.Want to turn the heater on for your pets whilst you are at work? using the app (and your own internet data) you can control from outside of the home and network - fantastic if you want to turn something on whilst you are away.Utilising timers and the routines we were able to set up for when we are away from home or on holiday to actively switch things on and off like we are still there which is a great deterrant for would be house thieves.I cannot recommend these enough and considering they are half the price of the leading competitor it is a no brainer.I shall be purchasing more of their products soon!

Fairly low profile smart plugs, they don't stick out as far as some other designs on the market. They handle a decent load of up to 2.5 kilowatts. The Android app works well and is easy to use. Great integration with Alexa for voice control.

Having just read the review about the exploding plug, thought it might be helpful to say that I had no problems with the two that I have just set up. I see that Amazon have removed from site whilst investigating, which is reassuring.

These are excellent. I’ve got 5 tp link Alexa plugs. All of them are good but they are bulky. These are much cheaper, much smaller and just as good so far!

Bought as a birthday present for someone not techically minded. He managed to set it up and is still learning new things it can do. A very useful item indeed.

As soon as I plugged this in to sync it to the app it blew, gave me a shock and tripped my electrics. It has also damaged the plug next to it my iPhone charger as you can see in the photos. I’m not going to attempt to plug the second one in. I hope amazon remove these from sale until investigation as they have promised. It could cause more damage next time.
