Golden Gate BT-001 Polished Wood Bodhran Tipper

So Jessica, I read your review and ordered one anyway. I figured for such a low price it probably wouldn't be the very finest tipper. Sorry to hear that yours had a flaw - I think it should not have passed quality control. Even at this price. Mine is OK although it has been turned from a piece of wood with an unsightly dark inclusion. It is otherwise very light hardwood and does have a polished surface.It measures 8 & 3/16" in length. The bulbous ends measure 7/8" and the center grip part is just a tinch over 1/2". My groove is also off-center. It plays my bodhran just fine but doesn't have the finesse of the thin 9" tipper the top-end maker sent with the drum. So there ya go!

This tipper was a much lighter color than pictured, it was like an unstained maple color. It was finished, but it is a clear finish. There was one small imperfection, but it does not affect the function at all of the tipper. The tipper works well, and for the price I am very pleased with this purchase. It is small and light, and seems to sit in my hand well.

Nice product for the money

I received my tipper and did not even recognize it! It is not "polished" wood, it is unpolished, raw wood, light in color. I could live with that though. The grove is not as pictured, it is off-set. That's not what I wanted. The worst thing is, at one of the ends of the tipper is a flaw, a flattened part that looks damaged (about the size of half a dime.) I'm sure that would affect the sound of my playing. I guess you could say you get what you paid for, because it only cost a few dollars, but I can't even use this. I'm giving it one star because it's partly my fault, I should have known it would be cheap. I will be returning this!

It's a good stick for hitting a bodhran. Smooth enough, not much finish but I don't want it be slippery so that's good as far as I'm concerned. I see a lot of other tippers that cost way more, but it's just a stick. Weight, length and shape are personal preference, for $6 it works for me

I haven't used it yet, but it feels lightweight and balanced. The 3 stars is bcs I was sent a version that is an unstained tipper, not like the product shown.

Nice slender center - much easier to hold than my previous tipper! Excellent product at a very reasonable price :)
